I didn't notice any moves played in the final game. She just says "lets play".

Premise on the symbolism is wrong. Beth's mother did not die because of a car accident. Final game represents her coming to terms with her past and being able to move forward with her life.
Watched all episodes yesterday - thought it was very good!
Being set in the 60s meant the series could draw on the fashion of the period and didn't have to worry about engine based cheating: I couldn't help but be reminded of Anna Rudolf's experience of being accused of cheating because her opponents couldn't believe that she could play so well. There was a gender based aspect to that too that this movie didn't have to wrestle with because Harmon was clearly so good but with clear flaws as well: there were hints of it in Annette Packer's character, though.
First of all, welcome back! Secondly, I do recall the Anna Rudolf scandal!
Thanks! Interesting phrase, because the "scandal" wasn't anything Anna did, but in the way she was treated by her opponent. I see in the Susan Polgar article that she also points out that the chess establishment was much more biased against her because of her gender than anything Beth Harmon experienced in that series - unfortunately, we still see some of those sort of attitudes even here on this site in this day & age, and I hope the girls or women inspired to take up the game (a) aren't discouraged when they encounter this sort of behaviour, and (b) contribute to changing the culture.
My wife noticed things like when Beth plays in one of the tournaments, she's wearing the same sort of shoes that she noticed the "cool" girls wearing in high school, and when she's wearing a dress she was only admiring in the store earlier on. Some of those pics above are a really good indicator about how the show's costume designers have nailed the style of the period and I think how that's added to the series' appeal, especially with women. IMDB has it up to 8.8 at the moment
Regarding the soundtrack , and as a music fan , I have to say, I was, somehow, impressed. If I had heard that I'm Coming Home song before, which is possible, I certainly didn't remember it. Also, although they used Quincy Jones's version, apparently, I strongly suggest to anyone with a modicum of a sense of humor, to also watch the Mel Torme 's version. The one I think is incredible. But there are many covers of this , because lots of people like this song.
For those who like to compare everything this is Grace Kelly . And yes, it was a civil wedding... Wait. What?
