CP6033

I have recently met a very interesting 14-year-old player on this website. CP6033 is his username.

The guy is friendly, clever and articulate way beyond his years, and his chess is interesting, enterprising and precise (at least as much as mine is - and when you're 14, that's certainly a compliment).

His playing strength is probably at the area of 1900-2000 FIDE, similarly to my own.

CP, who has recently qualified to play Magnus Carlsen in a simul on chess.com, lives in a rural area of Canada, where there is no chess club. He trains with a friend, another talented junior, but otherwise has nobody professional following his chess progress.

I feel that such a bright mind can easily reach titled player (FM and higher) calibre within two-three years at most, with the correct coaching. CP6033 is also very much fun to talk with, and probably a pleasure to work with - so in all probability a very worthwhile investment for any coach, and a potential feather in the cap once he starts catapulting himself towards his true potential, where he really belongs.

I personally know some opening secrets that I'm only going to play against him once he gets the IM title, in 2018 or so, and that will be my own feather in the cap.

cool

lol ur crazy and he's nowhere near 1900-2000 fide trust me. He is maybe 1600 elo at most but he qualified magnus event after all the trouble

MSC157

Âre you furious you didn't manage?

solskytz

<avi97> I didn't get to play you, but I played many games against CP6033, and spent time analyzing chess with him. He sees and understands hugely more ideas than an 1700-1800 would.

CP6033 is every bit as strong as I am, and my official FIDE rating will be 1956 after the next update.

I hope you're satisfied with this.

Concentrate on your own play, enjoyment and improvement rather than try to detract from others. You are doing yourself a disservice when you concentrate on negativity - and besides, you create a bad impression of yourself, not of the person you come down on.

avi97

Well if you see my tourneys you will see i am about 1900 strength. Just because he is a qualifier doesnt mean hes 1800-1900 lol. You've literally barely know the guy, all u did was help him win the qualifying rounds. I am not detracting, im just saying he's not that strong. And MSC, i was mad at the beginning knowing that solskytz let him win to play carlsen, but i still was able to have another simul against another gm.

avi97

and dude (1700-1900's literally know the same ideas) all their games are decided by a tactical blunder in middlegame FYI thats all. This is coming from someone who got to 1741 in less than 15 tourneys

solskytz

Thank you for your opinions :-)

*facts but ok no problem

<CP> don't get dragged into this. He won't write against you again on this thread and there's no reason to get excited :-)

Of course this was my initiative, and I stand behind it. You should have a coach and become a master and higher.

P.S. I didn't give you the tournament. I just refused to take it away from you for the "crime" of losing connection in a position where you would at least draw.

At the point you lost connection it was the last round. You were leading the tournament by 1/2 a point and with a tiebreak hugely superior to Avi97 (18 against 14). So the tournament was yours already. I just refused to spoil it. Avi97 has already received this explanation and I made sure that he understood it fully, so no reason for bitterness either way.

JBades6310

ugh typical avi, most conceited guy I've ever met on chess.com

JBades6310

great game against Magnus today CP6033! you gave him a real fight Smile

MSC157

Hey, yours was great too, although it was shorter. But, in both I had no idea what was going on (after a quick review). :)

solskytz

<JBades6310> he's 17, which will be said in his defense.

CP gave Magnus more than just a real fight. Magnus said in live transmission that the position was simply a draw. CP went for the R-exchange which just subtly loses.

EDIT: after studying CP's thread, he proves that actually he had a forced draw later! Chess never ceases to amaze me... now back to the original post...

I thought that he made the right decision, until Magnus proved both of us wrong.

<MSC157> I hope that my most recent article sheds some light about my "mysterious" game :-) and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I know I did, and I also learned something. Nothing like playing with the Champ!

<Immortalus> no problem - just go to my other thread. CP6033 also made a thread now about his excellent game. Great effort, CP!!

WanderingPuppet

a few interesting games in order by date, i've only played CP in the 3 games below:

i think he beat ruifeng (he's like 2450 USCF, and those noobs except for me are over 2300 USCF and a few significantly above that) twice too the same week with a draw or something but anyway a fantastic performance 11/1 -11/4...

WanderingPuppet

i forgot to include a win against this IM too etc...  and off games like this one

solskytz

Wow, <Petrosianic> - what a valuable inclusion! I suddenly feel proud at having beaten this guy a number of times :-) But the potential is great, and his level of strategic understanding is very deep.

The first game was known to me. His opponent was a GM as far as memory serves.

This is his chance at glory, before you take off to the stratosphere and leave us all in a puff of smoke.
