Create a Promotional Chess.com Video and Win $1,000!!

I WOULD have really wanted to participate in it... actually I still do, only it had been possible if I was allowed a YouTube account. You say 1000$, do you mean you'll transfer that to anyone in the whole world.. :O... I still wish I could do this. You guys at chess.com rock, introducing so many cool events. No problem, if i can't participate, I'll watch! ;)

HEY !!! WHERE's the CHATTER !!

There's only twelve days left in this Video Contest ... I hope to post another video so hopefully there's more videos to come from other chess.com members.

In my most recent video post, I was trying something new that I hope other artists here can follow ... my video differs from those posted in that I did not list chess.com internet features ... but I tried to direct them to chess.com. I see a lot of artistic potential in the videos already posted, maybe more creativity and less of a list of features. I was thinking like a young lady wrapped in a gothic style-veil but that material all around like a cape and film with a Sepia, kinda antique looking film and have her say something dramatic in French like: "terri-blay" ... "no!" .. then "Quoi" and "mag-nee-feek" and just random stuff and then, in sync with a music crescendo, or decrescendo (whichever works best) then she holds up a bottle of perfume labeled: "Chess.com" with the green pawn icon as the perfume label and then text-FX that read: "Menage Echecs" ... or "Chess Meeting" ... sorry ... that's the best I can do to approximate French.

I don't know ... give it a try !! Still plenty of time to post. Looking forward to some cool stuff. I am trying my hardest to get people to stay and star in my short film skits, but most of my friends and families (including close in-laws) only had time to help cut out my cartoon figures and paste here and there and small stuff just to help ... but those of you who can get a crew together ... really try to sell the parody with simple props and costumes and some really Saturday Night Live-like stuff will emerge !!

Nope !! Still plenty of time to enter a short skit ... I'm going to stry to do a few solo if possible. This is just a bad time because of the Holidays and people are running here and there, either to or from work, or to get to the mall, or to office and family parties and what not ... ... but no excuses !!!

I learned that from my Creative Writing class ... my story wasn't ready for the deadline so I didn't turn it in ... the Guest Teacher, a published and well-known writer of novels, said: "That's the idea. You turn in what you got and I calibrate your focus. Now, your colleagues and I have nothing to critique. You will not be able to benefit from this class."

He was right. Although my short- story was so good that he admitted he would have rather given me an A+ he said he was forced to give me a B+ because I didn't "cooperate with the schedule." He emphasized the word cooperate with wide eyes and his index finger in the air and I knew all too well ... ...

... ... I failed myself.

Therefore ... meet your deadline ... for "THE SHOW MUST GO ON !!"

So post something for me to watch !!

Chess.com, there are many videos where the likes and views seem obviously bought. Such as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HuKZIde5S4

If you look at the stats, you can see one of the source of views is the search of a tag (which is bought), and one is a "hidden link referrer". Why would you hide the link? Also, the comments are abvioulsy staged. They all come in a group, and start and end at certain times. I don't find it fair for one person to pay 20 US dollars, cheat, and in return win 1000 USD. Will something be done to them? There are also other videos the seem staged. Will Chess.com review them before they give out the prize? Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it ... just remember that when it comes to governing things ... true power lies in what is not known and keeping that knowledge among the elite and away from the masses ... so ... ....

I'm sure youtube and Erik are working together to judge the vids right.

Maybe that's why no one can see the graph icon (viewer stats) on the lower right hand corner. That was brought up in one of the comment entries in this forum. Probably so people can't monitor and adjust at will.

As far as I can tell, stats are hidden because of content rights (i.e. for my video: the soundtrack). At least Youtube says they are hidden for this reason. But eventually I have no problem making screenshots of stats, if someone ask for.. ;)

hmm .. maybe it is about content rights ... regarding blocked stats graph ... because my stats graph IS in view. And I did do all the music soundtrack myself for my video by playing an American Indian Recorder and I made a lot of the sound effects myself by spinning a bike wheel (for cranking sound) and bagging metal spatulas together to get clanking metal sounds for my war scenes.

However, I'm sure there are still safe guards in place, or in use that will allow chess.com the ability to bring the contest to a final closure.
