Create a Promotional Chess.com Video and Win $1,000!!
Did they announce the winner?
Just did here: http://blog.chess.com/webmaster/1st-master-death-match--video-contest-winner
Big congrats to VonStroheim!
The 2nd version of his video had the highest number of Likes among the videos we considered to be promotional! Awesome job, everyone!!
What top 5? I doubt they even have one.
"the highest number of Likes among the videos we considered to be promotional"
Dancing around in a hotdog suit or just showing a blank screen suddenly became disallowed. A sudden convenient rule change.
The "winner" even used bots for likes
A twitter bot account he used
http://twitter.com/nagvideoz/
Their link at the top for youtube was banned for being such a bot
http://www.youtube.com/user/nagvideoz?feature=mhee
I want to know how his other video managed to get only 68 likes and no more, but his main one managed to get over 20 times that amount without nearly that many more views.
If you say he promoted it, then what the heck do you think I did. I aimed for people clicking the like button, not just hoping they would click like.
I don't just smell a rat, I find evidence of such.

You're right dea
Chessplayer11, your "Happy New Year!" observations are pointless.
It's very easy to find my video here and there over the net, ‘cause it’s able to have a natural diffusion, instead of yours, in case you haven't noticed. It can be shared (it is), it can be published by web magazines (it is), it can be promoted by thirds, i.e. actors and everyone involved (it is). It’s also open to discredit and similar things, at the end it’s just a link.
The difference between my videos is a consequence of that kind of "promotion":
+) Post on Facebook: "Please, like my last production on YT for a contest!!"
People starts to share it, 'cause actually they really like it, don’t just hits the button. That’s what I aimed for.
And that's all.
Thanks to everyone who enjoyed my video.
Funny a family site would choose such a sexual video.
I don't think we can post such a video in the forums
.

What "Happy New Year!" observation? .... I was kicked off a game because of another login on MY account. When I refreshed I came here. You're directly quoting me on a post I sent to only one person? The site's founder.
In any case I found a bot "liking" your videos. enough said. You don't even try to explain it. You just dismiss it. Just vist http://twitter.com/nagvideoz
You'll see his "liked" video.
Then try to click the link at the top. Anyone can see for themselves how he got his likes.
Actually it's not easy to find your videos over the net. I can't find anything much more than obvious bots. Either created by you or otherwise.
"it can be published by web magazines (it is)" Show source then.
"it can be promoted by thirds, i.e. actors and everyone involved (it is)" Show source then.
Not asking for much, but I can't find all these links you speak of. About the only thing I found was of your video itself on youtube. Mostly obvious fake accounts.
One even hated it and still when you click on his profile, they have liked it and favorited it. Did you create every account that "Liked" your video?
I used DMs, PMs, and such to ACTUALLY TELL people to click LIKE. I didn't HOPE for them to do so. Your other video, (which is identical), proves that people won't just click "like" just from seeing the video. The numbers don't lie.
Your myrid of fake accounts liking your video are also obvious. All anyone has to do is click on them to see that they are fake.

Well, then why did you win? hmm? I got more likes than you.
If Chess.com wants to promoted porn, not chess, that's their discretion. But I just wasted over a month for that. I promoted their site on their own game rules.
I just want to know how I lost and he won. Is that too much to ask for? I want to know why I just wasted the last month and a half of my life!
You know, I agree with the recent comments: the winning video does not seem appropriate to represent chess.com ... I mean ... stuff is blocked out due to pornography (?).
Kinda reminds me of the Rebecca Black song, Friday ... which was the most viewed video on youtube for 2011. I don't think people looked up the Rebecca Black video because it was so good, but rather because it was so bad. Not sure how this video got so many views; I must have missed it with the others as I could only watch so many every now and then.
After watching the video ... I was pleased to see that the artist did in fact stray from the common format of listing the pro's of Chess.com and moving away from aiming the camera at the TV and recording the website. The ones that went that directiion did well in their one unique way, but the only thing VonStroHeim did that impressed me was using a plot format. Unfortunately, that format was all "shock and awe" and not much substance.
In conclusion, when I think of www.chess.com ... I DON'T THINK OF PRONOGRAPHY.
Just my opinion and critique.
Parotic_Groove: thanks for critique, this really give me some food for thought. I don't actually understand why some people think that my video is about pornography. It isn't. Pornography is shown as "uninteresting", from the player's point of view.
Chessplayer11: I was sufficiently clear on my previous post. Oh, using google in a right way right now, I just found my video "stolen": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suIT61laHOk, that's funny, at first.

Yeah, no idea where porn would come from after watching your video.
I'm sure that's something you do in front of your kids everyday. Nevermind that....
You don't even care that I have more likes. That's the funniest part. All you can do is show that you can google and find that someone may have taken your video. Okay, then why did you win based on the rules given? That's all I'm asking....
If chess.com says you made a better video. Okay. But they should have hired you for that, not made a fake contest to screw and waste everyone elses time, while getting free advertising.
Is this right? You don't understand why people think it's porn, yet you used a porn site to gather about 85% of your views...

Interesting ... how quick they are to remove the link, but found it okay to suggest that that is what they want representing their site.
I only got it from the source itself.
"we considered to be promotional"
Note to all who lost in this competition:
DON'T BE SUCH A PU**YS! You lose because his video was better. It was funny, it was short, have a good story, good quality of picture and good montage. Thats the main reason why he had won. I'm glad that he won. I even said to vonStroheim first day when he entered the competition that his video is great and that he should win.
You should all take the loose like a men!
Face the reality - most of you had a crapy video. Even I admit that his video was better then my and that he won fair.
Oh... Happy New Year! :D
And one more thing... you all say something about sexual content - there is a lot more nudity on Lady Gaga music videos or other musicians.

Just one problem with that....
=====================
Here’s how it works:
1. You create an amazing/unforgettable/hilarious promotional video for Chess.com.
2. Upload it to YouTube and then post in this forum!
On January 1, 2012 we will give $1,000 to the person whose video has the highest number of “Likes” on YouTube.
That’s it. No holds barred. Create any video you want. Create as many videos as you want. Make it informational and explain the site. Or dance around in a hotdog suit. Or make a mini movie. Or sing a song. Doesn’t matter. Get your friends to watch it. Get it posted on Reddit or Digg (or a porn site). All you need to do is generate positive views of your video!
=====================
How did he win fair again?? Where does it say we'll judge the best video? Because I missed that. If number of likes didn't matter, then why didn't Chess Family or any number of other better videos win? If all we had to do was make porn and upload it to I site I CAN'T EVEN LINK HERE because they won't allow it, (it's the one above with 30,000 views). then they should have said that's what was needed to win. What the #$%^ was all this *#$^% about likes for?
And these are the people that viewed his video
