Hey,
First off, I’m really sorry for your loss. That’s a tough thing to go through, and I think it’s really special that you want to honour your friend in this way.
You might be able to create a bot that plays like your friend using Chess.com’s API and some machine-learning techniques. There are a few approaches you could take:
1: Lichess AI Training – While this is for Lichess, it might be worth looking into since they have an open-source framework for training AI on specific games.
2: Stockfish with Custom Eval – If your friend had a unique style, you could adjust Stockfish parameters to mimic their tendencies.
3: Using Chess.com’s API – You can download their past games (if they’re public) and potentially train an AI model to recognize patterns in their play.
4: Leela Chess Zero (LC0) – If you have enough games, you could train a small neural network based on their play style.
Even if you’re not a programmer, you might be able to find someone in the community who can help. I love the idea of keeping a part of your friend’s chess legacy alive.
Wishing you the best on this journey!
Hi all,
This may be kind of a niche question, so I'm not sure where or who to ask - I had a close friend pass away in an accident a few months ago, and I logged in today to realize that game history is visible to friends, and public API's.
Does anyone have any experience creating a custom bot from someone else's play style, or have anywhere they could point me?
I just thought it would be really cool to be able to play against a bot that I know is trained on his old games.
Thanks for your time!
