Debate: What to call "Online Chess"...

Erik's thread and you come off as a Stooge, way to go Lame Rod. I will not go "back and forth" with you on this thread Wilbur.

Kinda bad agree. Better not post e4 just read & learn from comments ?

Well, let's say that I have apples to sell and I go with them to the market. Someone asks:
" How much are the apples?"
I answer:
" They are not apples, they're plas."
What do you think will happen? More than 50% of those who ask will go somewhere else to buy apples. After all, I told them clearly that I don't have apples, but plas.
If everyone knows that the game is called correspondence chess, what is the reason to call it differently? To make sure that you don't attract serious CC players who will not bother understanding the rules of "daily chess" or "online chess" or whatever?
Any new season plas available?
The reason Erik wants to call it a different name is to find a name that will attract the larger market of players, which are not the serious CC players but the more casual players.
btw, I don't see how changing the name is really going to make any difference. They only see the name after they've joined the site... they're here already.. unless it will help non premium members of the site become premium members because the name is more appealing ?
Unless there is outside advertising of the site and it's features going on which will feature the new name of CC ?
Ok now we can all agree, CC="Capitalism Chess"

Since some of the 4 million players here play on PSs and the games are long drawn out and heavy, how about
"Pregnancy Semester" hehe

I forgot to post this! At work today, I explained this "debate" to the servers. By an overwhelming majority, "comfy chess" was voted as best! While "online chess" appeared to be a redundant joke, and "correspondence chess" didn't make sense to them

How about "Off-The-Hook Chess"
"At your leisure chess"
To shorten it further, how's Leisurely Chess, or even, Leisure Chess? They might sound a bit strange and unfamiliar at first, but the vocabulary is universal.

Cool that sound alright with me!

how about like
P.A.W. play and wait or
M.A.W. move and wait or
datico DA(y) TI(me) CO(ntrol)
i know it would be nice to have something that screams corospondence chess but they want something easy, problem right now is asking someone to play online chess doesnt really mean what it should mean...but if i said hey want to play PAW chess....or anything that people are coming up with, it will work cause people will automaticly know what your talking about...or at least know that you dont just want to play online

Having just rescanned the numerous postings, would like to submit that the best suggestion so far made to suit site purpose is '' Basic Chess ''
Fits the bill nicely ,also the starting medium for all new entrants.
( please see again listing 23 post 460 )

I'm afraid the staff have long abandoned this thread... or are suffering from headaches as a result of attempting to read posts as pointless as this one.
The best of the names so far, in my opinion:
Correspondence chess/Turn-based chess - other sites use these names, they work.
Daily chess - most folks check up on these games on a daily basis, although it might falsely imply that it's just one of those daily puzzles instead.
Asynchronous chess - players play at different times
Play/move & wait - the wait for [insert name here] chess is quite longer than the shorter time control chess, so this name would make sense. technically, all chess games involve waiting, though.
Leisure chess - [insert name here] chess is played at a leisurely pace, so this would imply chess at a relaxing pace to casual players. Serious players might get turned off or confused by the oxymoron (for those that play dozens of games at once like myself, keeping up with games is far from leisurely!), but in theory, a serious player would play chess for the sake of chess alone, regardless of silly names.
