Depth Length Setting for Analyzing Games

I would like to hear some suggestions from chess players when analyzing games with the depth length. I have Komodo 8 (hope to get 9 soon). I downloaded all my chess.com games and will be having Komodo analyze them all. First I want to run my analyse for tactics purely so I set the blunder check threshold to 140. They say 1.4 is a winning advantage so to me it makes sense to set the threshold to this instead of 100.

I know Komodo works a little bit differently then other chess engines as it analyses by position of pieces and not just chess move brute force. Currently I have the depth setting at 18 but not sure if this is long enough. Does anyone suggest a particular depth setting and a good valid reason for that particular one. Thanks.

The bigger the number the deeper it calculates. Run a few positions (opening or middlegame) in infinite mode and see how much time it usually takes to get to a particular depth. This should give you an idea if 18 is okay or if you can bump the value up.

I know how to run it, but I want to know what's the ideal depth, not how long it takes

That's exactly what I was talking about. Ideal depth is the maximum you can achieve in a given time frame.

18 is good enough for blunder check.
