Disappearing message thread

Hi,

I have a long DM thread with one of my chess.com friends on here and a moment ago when I went to open it, I found that it has completely disappeared. I tried to "search messages", to no avail, so I opened the mobile app and sent him a message there. It sent...and then when I opened messages, it promptly disappeared. This happened twice. There is absolutely no trace of our conversation, at least from my end.

I have sent a message to support about this, but I am wondering if this happened to others or if there is a known reason for this to happen? I honestly find it kind of alarming that this happened so I'd be curious to know.

Your friend is probably muted. When that happens, all content is hidden.

Presumably though the content comes back when he is unmuted?

Yes, when the account is unmuted, the content will be visible again.

Sept.12/23. I found twice that my CHAT with my friend had disappeared, but then noticed I had been logged out for some reason. When I logged back in, the CHAT with my friend reappeared.
