do British and Irish play drunk more often than the rest of the world?

Okay, so half the time I've played against someone from England, they were drunk. I think that every time I played against a guy from Ireland, he was drunk. For the most part, it's awesome; seems like when someone's crap-faced, they're more chatty and cool, and do funny stuff on the bored, but it's especially funny when someone seems to know how to play, but they're making these dumb mistakes after a pretty descent openning...I dunno, drinking at eight in the morning and playing chess: always fun!

Well, i guess it depends on what day of the week it is... I think Sweden is the most sober country in the world between sunday and thursday, but come weekend, oh boy!:P

A normal ration for a night out is about 1/5 gallon of vodka and a few pints to drink it down with and this is not just confined to some few, but basically most people there is.

So cheers boys;)

I don't know about any connection between drinking and playing, seems to be a very bad idea for the chess game, but not a bad way to stay out of trouble if you're drinking... but I do know this:

No one drinks like Russians drink. You have to see it to believe it. Honestly. I've gotten good and loaded with people from around the world in my time, including Irish and Scots... and I can say with absolute conviction: No one drinks like the Russians. They are the world champion A#1 King Drinkers of the Universe.

I know a lot of people who drink while playing chess, but they never get off their face.

what about the Scott's and Welsh?

I feel that as we are 2 islands made up of 4 nations united in our love of alcohol it is extremely offensive to only include 2 (even if they are the best) of those nations when decrying our Island heritage!Laughing

Hmmmm, makes me want to go check the nationalities of all my fellow Drunk Chess group members...

ducks off for a second.

It doesn't appear that England and Ireland or any country in particular is over represented in the official group... lots of USians but that's to be expected as they're probably over half the population here at chess.com.

I am a liteweight now that I only do beer but i can put away quite a few of those and i wish they had a way to rate chess just when you are drinkin, just think about that you have to blow (into)something to p[lay!

 may I join your group?

I attach a statement in support of my application.

I only get drunk when I drink and I only drink when thirsty.
