Thanks for reminding me why I blocked you.

You are welcome! Tongue Out

I accept requests most of the time, but the person may have to wait a few weeks before I get to know that I have a friend request from him/her.

Definitly all of them if the account was created before 2015. If it's from 2015, I take a look at the account history briefly before deciding.

MSC157 You have made it 524 times?!

Pulpofeira

Yeah, and every time he made sure the account was created before 2015!

MuhammadAreez10

LOL!

Why it should be before 2015?!

It must be a fetish. Btw, everybody make sure you send a friend request and join this guy's group, he'll take everything: http://www.chess.com/members/view/pdela

Because of some spammers at the beginning of 2015 - and then returners.
Probably checked "only" 50 accounts. And, I also sent some friend requests, so it was their turn to check if I'm from 2015 or not. Laughing

Guys what about having a request from some guy whose note wall is full of curses and people complaining about disconnecting and stuffs like that.... ....

MSC157

I accept because lots of times it's more like the other guys are "well-mannered and patient" than the guy/gal with curses.

We should all accept friend requests.... Peace and love people.

For once here, I think kaynight's right on this one, we should accept any request that comes along cos no matter the number of friends you've got, it's same as if you've got none, that's it. Welcome to chess.com where friends do nothing other than fill up each others friend's list.......

Diakonia

I will accept them.  But after a couple of weeks when i dont hear from that person ie: game request, chat, analysis, etc.  I remove them from my friend list.  Im here to study and improve, this isnt facebook, where amassing hundreds/thousands of "friends" is not my goal.

I accept anyone. Its just a button click. Its not like they take up space, and why reject someone's friendship who went to the trouble of offering it ? they are real people not video game bits.

Its a rotten brain to think up petty reasons for rejecting others as not worthy, there is nothing to lose and possible something to gain by being warm and open enough to click accept.

Besides we live in a world where those people might be forced to invade and destroy your own country and loved ones in the future.

Friendship on any level is the only protection against that inevitable fact of war and hate ... and chess players should be the most understanding group of people on the planet, if you think religion or trade economics will prevent war, then you are way too dumb for chess, you need Farmville.

I feel a bit rude if I decline. Is that the way it is with most people?

I don't.

Your post makes sense, but you need to keep in mind that when youre dealing with people online, you hav to deal with the "e-thug" mentality.  People that wouild normally be polite in person, suddenly online feel they have to act like a fool, and come across as "tough", "gangsta" or whatever word you want to use.

Imagine someone who's been well known around to be a bad guy trying to friend you in real life...... I think it's pretty much the same thing here.....
