Does anyone else have this problem with sore losers?

That is not the worst thing that can happen. It's worse when the opponent pretends to leave, just to move when you are distracted.

It happens occasionally. I just find something to occupy the time (make a cup of coffee, grab a doughnut, read a book, etc.). These are things that I'm going to do anyway, so I might as well do them while my opponent thinks that he is wasting my time.

Ironing and washing dishes.
Once I had enough time to put clothes in the washing machine and grab a beer. When I returned, my opponent had made his move. I made mine, and he let the remaining time run out. I think that he thought he'd catch me by surprise by making a move at the last moment.

It happens all the time, can you imagine if people behaved like this over the board!
And the shocking reason people dont act like this OTB...<drum roll>
They would actually have to be face to face with someone, and no screen to hide behind.

Although I did think someone was letting the clocks run down OTB once, when I was one move away from checkmate. Luckily I realised in time I'd forgot to press my clock..

The few times my popponent has forgotten to hit his clock, i remind them. I would die of boredom, and refuse to win that way.

That is bad. But for me it's when you get people who are sore losers or cocky winners who want to talk a lot of trash. This is a gentlemens game.
It is very common. I play mostly day+ / move and you get guys that won't move or go on "vacation" for months on end just to see if you will die of boredom or old age or something before you can win.
Ive seen slow move events run for the better part of a year because of one or two people like that.
In the end, annoying as it is, you agreed to the time controls. If you don't want to wait it out, play a shorter control. Fischer time is excellent for this, where you get more time after you move. I used to find game in 1-2 min with 30 sec increments to be ideal on yahoo, way way back ... the games might run 1/2 an hour, but there wouldn't be any of that middlegame "you win so I won't move anymore" childishness.

If playing say 10 min. game don't put up the Zzzz if I am thinking about mv .......my time...... go play 5 min. game

what is correspondance chess?
It's like correspondence chess but while Irish dancing at the same time.

If you face players like the one described that means 2 things:
1. You are playing low rated / not serious enough players.
2. Improve your chess so you can play better and stronger players and time spent on chess will be higher quallity than current one.
People are rude. If they can hide untouchable their rudeness is 2x. Start improving yourself and fight back.
Over these last few days it's been happening more and more in rapid chess. I get a clear win and instead of resigning my opponent just walks away from the screen or something and waits for the time to run out all 13 minutes of it left. Is there nothing I can do about this? There's no report button and nothing to do but wait and it's extremely frustrating since I can no longer just start another game while I'm waiting.
