Overall on this site I won 50 games against players titled "GM", and lost 54. So I am a bit proud of it :-)
Don't dream becoming a GM

you wana be gm so you don't let players became gm
lol it's so easy to brand something you don't wanna hear as a hater or gatekeeper
?

All fields of study including sports require a lot of practice. On average you need about 10,000 hours of devotion to excel. I know what OP is telling about and I understand that he wants to warn young hearts who take things lightly just because they dream big without an understanding that if you want to become one yourself takes a lot of hard work. My only message is if you want to reach a dream, learn what are the cost to do it before taking the path yourself because it takes a lot of commitment, pressure and pain. That is why I am not dreaming of becoming a GM even though I like to become one anyway. Because of this I am just enjoying playing chess whenever I have nothing to do and enjoyment is one of the best treasures of life.

If you are very committed in taking the path to excel on a field no matter what the cost is involve, then you have my friend have a strong will to do it. But you must have a sincere heart to take a loss even if you did your best in order for you to become a healthy individual. If that happens the only true value that you would have left are the things you found along the way if ever you have one. By the way good luck I hope you will become GM someday. I admire your passion, that is the best quality to succeed in life even though it is not enough because of many complications.

Do you also show them all the beauty they possess inside and give them a sense of pride?

I will ask you just two things, actually one thing about two individuals. I'll choose them from known people, just to make it an easy question.
Why Levy Rozman (aka gothamchess) is still an IM, he plays chess for living, he sleeps and wakes up with chess, he teaches, he lives and loves chess.. but still IM.. why? lack of studying?
Second is Jeremy Silman (writer of very well known chess books, reassess of chess and the like) he recently deceased (rest in peace, he was a good man) and he past away as an IM.. even though almost all GMs read his books..
put your high horse, I'm so valueable, I'm special attitude aside and utilize your brain.. please find significant answers for these people, why they are/were still there?

Yes, the sense of pride. You got one of the true value you can still get even if you fail. You're very smart you found one.

They didn't buy valentin's books

Yeah, we as old timers are just here to say the cost of doing things to make them realize that life is more complicated.

It's funny i see people planning to study chess and dreaming of becoming GM..
One will have to tell you.. that everyone has an in-born ability, it's almost over once you hit your plateau.. you can only achieve average ratings and with any kind of hard study you can only become A class player max. maybe.. not a master..
eh.. its not even enough to born with it, you will still have to study to get it in your hands.. but without that ability.. dont even bother.
wake up and smell the coffee.. have fun and stop tilting and punching your pc..
i did my part for the community.. you are welcome
Totally in your camp... the odds are so slim and next to nothing of people becoming NM's let alone IM's or GM's. All GM's have some sort of photographic memory at some level...
What makes me smirk... in when I see them attempting to learn a GM's repertoire.... lol
Alternate topic title:
Don't dream learning the English.
every message i read here is quite clear and easy to understand. I wonder what really bothered you, your british english degree?
