Is 15% too high? Can anyone claim a higher %? Minimum of 200 games please.

There's nothing wrong with a high draw percentile, in fact most SGMs have a % of 60+!

Mine 6% out 1,3k games... I had always thought it is low.

Mine is 5%.  15% does seem high.  But I never offer draws...so maybe that's why?

Mine's 6%, after 2000+ games.

I think higher rated players should probably have a higher percentage, but overall the draw percentage on this site seems very low.

@Afafbouardi: Why, if I may ask?

You are asking why I don't offer draws?  I don't want to insult the other player if they think there is a possible win for them.  So I just play it out.

I fully agree with AfafBouardi, will never offer a draw if I'm a weaker position. But as most you will have seen, it is not strange for some people here to offer an 'insulting' or even laughable draw.

There's a difference between not offering draws in losing positions, and not offering draws at all.

Avatar of TheGrobe

I've probably lost drawn games because I really, really want to find a win and will play on.

1% here.

I'm 6%

I'm not amazing at determining a drawn position.  Unless I see two kings and two rooks on the board...or kings and respective queens.  And I suspect opponents around my rating are the same...and we tend to be a bit poor at the endgame where anything can happen.

I once had an 1800's player offer me a draw and I took it, but in my heart I thought I had a stronger position...when I put it through analysis...it was a drawn position as he'd already realized.

Look at the top 2% of the CC players.  It isn't uncommon to see 20%+ draws.  The correlation is the weaker the player, the less they will draw in games.  I am an intermediate player, and draw 5-6% of the time.  Excellent players here draw 20-30% of the time.  If this amateur stat means nothing, look at the pros, they draw more than half of the time against equal opponents.  A loss is more rare than splitting.
