Why are forums like this allowed to exist?

You could ban everyone who posted in that forums and we'd be better for it.

See @batgirl, there's a difference between RJC posting a silly picture and referencing something absurd that really exists (Barbie Jeep racing) and a horde of 10 year olds spamming "quack" for 100+ posts.
I know you don't make the rules, but this **** is ridiculous. I can tell Erik has zero interest in the forums.
I've never seen more than the homepage. It was my understanding you couldn't interact with your opponent at all. That way the kids are safe from all sorts of nonsense that can happen online.
I have no idea what "send them here" means.
Ostensibly chesskids.com was where the kids would be corralled (well, maybe that was me being optimistic).
More likely it was just a marketing gimmick, because obviously they've never removed someone from chess.com for being too young (even though you agree that you're at least 13 or something).
Just get used to the issues with this site, and you'll be fine
this is the type of dumba$$ response that festers what is happening. as i wrote to another dumba$$, you might change your tune if you were muted for posting normally. consider if you posted and then were muted, spider.
the fact that i need to use dollar signs to avoid another mute is crazy.
i will repeat, isn't there a kid site? that cc advertised for about a year? when i am automuted for not following community guidelines, i wonder, is cc making sure every account here is from one 18 years old?
XD, you are very amusing.
I got muted twice for posting normally before.
Once I tried to type "fake" in response to a dude faking statistics, but accidentally misspelled and left out the "e" behind, which made it look like I was trying to type the f-word, and I got muted.
Another time I was going on about pork and lard and stuff, and upset some religious people that can't eat pork, and got muted.
Just a very fun experience.
we obviously have different views on fun.
its a great pity, off topic used to be great, now it is festooned with low effort posts.
I agree, Robbie. Off-Topic by virtue of being the last and only resort has become little more than a catch-all. And that's indeed a sad result. I wish there was a separate place -with a nicer name than Trash Forum- to put the plethora of nonsense.. but without direction or clarification from the higher muckamucks, in order to keep these childish and non-chess theads off the main floor, that's the only current solution, as poor as it might be.
Btw, you are highlighted (somewhat) in my latest (non-chess) blog article.
Thank you for honouring this peasant farmer with a notable mention in said illustrious blog!
How come we don't have a thread on "Barbie Jeep Racing".? This is 2020!
Indeed, top notch redneck entertainment for all the family!
This was in the notes section of a private club. Threads are disappearing, people are being automuted, sure its a tricky business but testing should be done on a remote system and only transferred to live when all scenarios have been considered bug free.
Looks like you were temporarily muted.
thanks for chiming in by letting everyone know it was temporary (hint: all mutes are temporary).
your post is rather useless, though, as it appears you are attempting to explain away a site failure by saying, "well, the muting was only for a short time". it's still wrong.
you should utilize your position as a mod in better ways.
Well, there are less temporary mutes
The reply was in regards to why there was the message about being unable to post in a club notes; by the time I looked at it, the mute was expired. I wasn't making excuses for the why of it. Context is important there.
