What can the bunny say except that some have them while some don't.

The bunny just remembered something about ignorance and bliss...

back to the bots-

a member wrote the f-bomb in a very popular topic (over 10,000 posts). i quoted it to show, once again, how bad the bots are. well, upon quoting i was instantly muted. no red banner warnings, just muted. *snip*

Welcome to the club. We should form a "I quoted an unfiltered comment and got muted" club.

MaddyCole

end the bots, really.

You guys are a bunch of pampered, entitled, spoiled brats. Yeah I have been playing chess online since Yahoo! introduced it and was a member of  the world's largest chess site, until chess.com came out. Chess.com quickly took the role as the number one site for chess on the planet, because they did a LOT of things. One, they had no "watchdog" program (a program installed on your computer as an exe, which cannot be played anywhere, but on your own devices). Two they never stopped innovating new  and brilliant features. Brand "X" never improved over 20 years. Chess.com improves almost daily. one feature I found particularly interesting is the feature about your stats that shows what chess moves (with names, like en passant) you use from the most to the least. Things like the Tactical Trainer is a great tool for seeing if your opponent is the real deal or a cheater. You can't cheat that thing, but it does have a limited library, so if you play it thousands of time you can get pretty good at it. Then you have Puzzle Rush, which is a fast paced exciting test of your ability to asses a situation in time constraints, which also  will give you a fair assessment of another player. There are hundreds of other things I could expound upon, but the bottom line is this site is the best of the best. My advice to you who feel frustrated, is to join another site and get a belly full of appreciation for what you have here.

try reading the whole topic. note that erik mentioned there are good suggestions.

there is a difference between a$$-kissing, complaining for the sake of complaining, and pointing out where the site fails the members.

no one cares that you were on yahoo. this topic is not about any comparisons to other sites. prior to you being here, erik was quite open to suggestions. as the site has grown, there have been some large bumps in the road, so to speak. the incentive to start this topic is not because i/we hate the site. rather, it is pointing out where it can do better.

Honestly I’m starting to think this site is a piece of crap and if there are any other chess apps I’ll gladly download.

Having crap isn't being crap. Most of us happen to think it's the best chess site. Just that it could be better.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. I have played in all the chess websites that exist today. I checked all of the features of all sites. And I found chess.com has the most attractive and user friendly interfaces in all aspects. Thanks chess.com! Thanks Eric! Thanks all the Staff and Moderators!

I don't know how you know you've played on all of them... Over the years I'll google for obscure sites just to try them. I've probably played on dozens. Yes chess.com is very good... "the most user friendly in all aspects" might be pushing the truth a bit  -- when you have so many features you necessarily need more buttons and/or menus... which creates a learning curve (however small it may be).

I’ve played on 25-30 sites, and I assure you that I have not played on all of them. I’ve been playing chess online almost daily since 1998. I’ve spent more time on chess.com than all the other sites combined, barely.

I’m 6-0 on Yahoo, and that is surely one of the worst.

i just received the red banner for *gasp* posting consecutively. again.

erik, staff, please get rid of this. it appears to be another way where, you recruit kids with 'flair', and, allow them to post nonsense.

ok, fine. please allow us adults to continue our conversations. the topic where i received the red banner is almost ten damn years old and a topic for the ages.

minimizing input may keep the bots away-that you don't want. oh, wait, you use bots! i understand there is a balance to be had. on this issue, my thing is wake the fk up and recognize the difference between a bot and me-a member for over ten years.

ffs, this topic is about improving the site. many of us are offering free advice.

Did the bot notice the green, or just five consecutive posts?

My first one was chesslive, a Spanish site. It was excellent. The CEO is now staff here.

Another frustrating thing is that I keep clicking on the same alert and it remains there on my alert list. I click "X" and it returns when I refresh the page

In 1998, I started playing on Chess.net.

http://www.chess.net

I had played on a telnet connection once in the late-1980s while visiting my brother, who is a programmer and helped a little with ICC in the early- or mid-1990s.

This seems to be a new bug that recurs off and on a lot the past week or two.

WELCOME TO LIVE CHESS!
222070 players. 69960 games.

One year ago it was rare to see 100,000 players. Now they're getting 220K on a Tuesday.

As much as I like to take shots at @Erik from time to time, I think we have to admit that the issues aren't due to negligence... at least not solely (I know the site wasn't perfect 3 years ago)... and that no amount of due diligence would have prepared a chess website to handle the wave they've seen.
