Is there a way that if you track a user, you can be alerted to when they make any post, whether it is a new post, or a response to one?  I thought that currently you are only notified if they are the author of a brand new post.  Could this be modified?

I suggest having a "digest" email, available via preferences, which is sent at the same time every day. It would present the status for your current games. The thing is, one email per move is WAY too much. But 0 is the only other choice. I think this is a happy medium. You could even perhaps have a preference for how often to send the email, if you wanted to be fancy :-)

Also, I suggest having a gigantic chat room available. This is something that FICS does to great effect. But keep in mind that you will have an explosion in abusive language, you will need to implement censor lists, filters, and probably have a sanction mechanism in place other than "ban". So maybe this is on your radar, it just takes a lot of wrok!

 great suggestions!!

so, as to the first point, we already have that :) you don't get an email per move, you get one per LOGIN. it is kinda like a digest, but not entirely (that is actually pretty tough to do and have it make sense).

the CHAT will be in Live Chess :)

I know I've already praised the mouse-over board for games in play -- I think it would be great to have this feature on the "View" link in the "alerts" pane as well -- particularly for vote chess, but also to allow you to preview a game when you are in the forums and have an alert on one of your games.

I think it would be nice if we could search for players in a particular area, i.e. State, Province, Country.  I would love to be able to play with others in my State, but there is no way to know them.  Don't get me wrong, I love the people I've been playing on a regular basis from all over the world, they are absolutely terrific people, but to have the ability to pick a State, Province or Country would be wonderful.

I haven't read all the suggestions, but I just tried the "Live Chess" and had some suggestions.  Is there going to be some way that we can review the games that we play there.  I just tried it this morning and it wasn't obvious if there was a way.

How about whenever you enter a thread that you've already looked at, it takes you to the last page on that thread.

When setting up a game I'd like to see the option of a time reserve in addition to the time per move option. Personally I'd rather play one day per move rather than three days, but I don't go for that option because if something comes up and I can't get to the computer for a day or two I could find myself timed out of what might be some really good games. It would be better if instead of being timed out there was some reserve time to serve as a sort of safety for such situations. This would prevent players from losing games because of things like family emergencies and give them the confidence to select time controls that are more in line with their actual move frequency. Perhaps somebody has suggested this before, and if so let me add my vote for the idea.

I know that on another site, as part of your view of all your games, there is also a column that shows the notes you made for that game.  Is there a way to have a little "thought bubble" maybe to the right of the "Your Move!" or "Waiting..." that when you mouseover, it can pop-up the notes for that game?  That would be especially helpful if you have multiple games....a quick glance at these notes could help you keep them apart.

I would like it if I could have the Leaping Stallion option and could you please move me up to the top 5 here on the site? My rating doesn't reflect it but I do deserve it and how about I slip you that extra $20 we were discussing!!

i highlighed moves of my games and did a copy/paste/save to a .txt file, of course a Email-Pgn button would be nice!

Assuming that is you using the same handle on that site KNH, I know what site you are refering to. And while I will never use that site again (their cust. service is AWFUL), they do have some interesting features. The one you mention I love and it should be placed high on the to-do list, IMO.

I would really like an 'undo' or 'are you sure' button for the online chess chat. I am often fumble finger typing enter, when I've misspelled or not finished a sentence. I can see great potential for embarassment. Maybe just having to type or click 'enter' twice would be sufficient?

As of current, when you are on the page of a Vote Chess Game and you make a move, you do not cycle to the next available/ ready Vote Chess Game, as you do in tournament / regular games.  It is an annoyance rather than a major problem, but it would make utilizing the Vote Chess Feature much easier.

I wanted to post some of my poetry in my blog (a few of my friends have asked me) and it just simply doesn't work because the formatting goes completely haywire when I save and preview.

I was wondering if we could get rich-text format for the blogs maybe?

Asking a bit much, isn't it?

You seem to harbor the misconception that this site is a hobby, a side project being run by the creators.

How about an "Ignore" feature in the Live Chess chat?  Some people (I'm sure they must be) enjoy tormenting the rest of the chat room with their abusive and offensive language.  Seems like the simplest solution would be to allow users to ignore another user and never have to see that persons witty comments again.
