Ok.. this is really small and insignificant.. but I see there are England, Scotland and Wales flags, as well as the Republic of Ireland.. is there any chance of a Northern Ireland one?

Oh.. and how about a Chess.com Wiki area? Could be interesting, and as we would be the main contributers, could be a good place to correlate all our chess experience..?

which Northern Ireland flag are you requesting? :)

a wiki? great idea (waving magic wand now.... PRESTO!) = >  the Chessopedia!

Oh Mr Magician.. just this one!! May I introduce you to the flag of Northern Ireland, one of the four that makes up the United Kingdom (the other four countries being England Scotland and Wales).

Flag of Northern Ireland, a country in the United Kingdom

Oh, and the chess wiki, I never knew you already had it going, I will be making a trip or two there in the near future :)

Thanks

was told that flag was too controversial to put on the site!

I have an idea, I don't know whether or not you will like it, but I am going to throw it out there anyway :D. I think a good idea would be to add a drop down scroller to the forum tab on the top that way you can access any part of the forum quickly. Just a thought.

a dropdown scroller? i'm not sure what you mean - are you talking about the main navigation FORUM link?

I came to the forum to make this same suggestion. I'd like to see a drop down menu under Forums on the green navigation bar at the top of the site. For me, I'd be happiest seeing what appears in the "View All..." box but it might be reasonable to see the list of forums in the drop down.

I use a mac and usually use safari for web browsing. I can do the daily puzzles and see the boards posted with articles, but I can't see the board in any games I play. For that I need to use a different browser or a different computer.

I wasn't sure if the coding was very different for the game board or if maybe there was a small typo on that page template.

So, do I have to bite the bullet and install firefox (which does work) on my computer?

It would be nice if the

OpponentGame# MovesTime LeftStatus

in the current games list were clickable ways to sort the list.

How about some bar graphs showing server stats like:

  1. How many of each piece has been captured?
  2. How many wins were time outs, resignations or checkmates?
  3. How many members we have from the the top ten countries? (USA and Republika ng Pilipinas I'm guessing are the top two.)
  4. How many chess.com experts (chess.com rating of 2000+) are online right now?

Interesting. But the fact that you give us a choice between United Kingdom or England/Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland messes with the stats a little.

It's also interesting to see whether people view themselves as a citizen of the UK or English/Scottish/Welsh/Northern Irish.

Personally, I'm from the UK. A big hello to all my Scottish Welsh & Irish fellow countrymen! Smile

yep. we can't have it both ways, so we chose this one.

That's understandable. It's our own fault.

Well.. it is the flag my International football team uses, our boxers, our Rugby team.. our Athletes... the only people it would be controversial to would be those who obviously don't understand what it is ie a flag that represents the part of the UK that is Northern Ireland. The fact that you were told it would be controversial has pissed me off a bit.. it is like me complaining about someone from the Republic of Ireland having their tricolour..why would I, it is their flag, the same way the flag above is mine.

BTW - Since I am being pedantic now.. the Union flag is not the flag of GB, it is the flag of the United Kingdom (as in it is made up of the flags of England(St George), Scotland (St Andrew) and Ireland (st Patrick) :)

GB is just England, Scotland and Wales, and 3/4 of the country that is the UK ;)

sorry if i upset you Frown i had talked to several people about this very issue of that flag and since i don't know anything at all about it, i was told it would be controversial. so that's all i know. i am just another ignorant american (though i speak spanish fluently and have been to 20 countries).
