Feature Requests and Wishlist Thoughts!!?

I'd like to see some sort of link on the forums that will go to the "last unread

post" of a thread. As of now the closest we have is a link to the  "last post" which means I'll often have to read backwards to get everything.

I'd also like to see an improved search on the forums, like, for example,

an ability to search specific sub forums or thread, or to limit searches by date.

Email notification of tracked threads would be nice... But it looks as though my settings allow for email to be sent. Perhaps there's a bug?

Forgive me if these were mentioned before, but a quick search didn't come  up with anything.

i was thinking maybe there should be a text box under the puzzles that you can type in the answer (e.g.Ra1,Bd2,h4#) and it would tell you if it was correct or not.

the idea would be for people who think they have the right answer but dont want to move the pieces till there sure (or for people like me who want to do it without moving the pieces but cant hold themselves backTongue out).

how about a 3d panoramic view of the board so we can analyze the our moves better. it's just my opinion.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but would it be possible to be able to set a preference for the date format on chess.com?

I appreciate that most chess.com users are from the US, but most other countries use the dd/mm/yy format rather than the mm/dd/yy format.

Thanks!

Again, sorry if this has been mentioned, but I'd really like to have a feature where you can make the chat box disappear, or mute the other player, or block messages from someone... This one guy called "croatian" was absolutely hammering me, which I really don't mind, I know I'm not amazing etc, but he was really being bitchy about my moves, and just trying to stress me out. I'm refusing to move very fast now, and just wish I could block him. I dont care about losing, but I really detest people like this.

yeah. we're going to do that :)

PLEASE expedite block chat, I love this site but can't stand being told to resign, hurry up, etc.

I'd like the option to flip the position/game I'm viewing.  I know that the author can flip, but as a reader, I may often want to look at it from a particular side.

Maybe being able to sort games in archive with opponent's rating. Also maybe opponent's alphabetical order?

How about a board that you can put as full screen or maybe just a really big board, that would be cool.

What does analysis button do in the Moves tab? Why not to place it outsite any tab? That board is a great feature imho.

i might think i know the answer, but i dont want to get 2/3 through the puzzle and then realize that i did all the right moves for the wrong reason...Tongue out

Another vote for a sound when you have moves to make.. Its nice when you're in another room to be able to hear when its your turn.

Could be a sound imitating a piece moving or something like that.

what sound does a piece make when it is moved? :)

I really need to be able to post illegal positions for puzzles. Pawns on first and last rank; Kings touching Kings; and at least one puzzle needs over 55 White Queens. ^_^

hahahaha. ok. but then they won't be interactive.

OK, this thread is now enormous, so I might be repeating the suggestions of others here, but anyway, there are a few things I think would benefit the site.

  • Live Chess - just kidding, I know you're working on it!
  • Live relays of games from big tournaments with commentary (in text, if audio is not possible)
  • Chess.com tournaments.  Open tournaments/under "xxxx" rating tournaments
  • Team competitions
  • Leagues
  • Annotated games by top players
  • Chess Tuition videos

By the way, when people join nowdays, are they sent a welcome message, or something similar?  Something to point them in the right direction?  There's a lot of features on the site and it's easy to get lost if you're not familiar with the layout.

Perhaps there could also be some sort of perk for referring people who join?

great suggestions - all of them!

yes, people do receive a welcome email. but it could probably be a lot better. if somebody wants to write a new one i would appreciate that!

and yes, we are working on getting the referrals piece done. the problem is that we have SO much to do, and not enough people :(
