game review interface change?

My concern about the new change is possibly unique. I utilize the review feature to add a games to my library, if my game rating is high say 2300 I add it he game to my library under 2300, smothers mate to that group of games etc. by removing the library icon from the review options you eliminate any possibility of adding this to my library. I cannot find any way to add anything to my library in any mode? Review features showing a best line was helpful to a large number of us, also. Comment #46 sent by the staff basically ignored the criticisms of the players, and to paraphrase “we are going to do want what we want to do.” Another way to look at this is “don’t fix what ain’t broke.” Still another point is this, one of the incentives to being a PAYING member was the access to unlimited review (along with better/best lines), along with the removal of annoying advertisements (which has slowly creeped into the home page) by restricting the review function you deincentify any reason to being a PAID member.

Click on the "self-analysis" icon in the top right corner of the review screen. You should get the "library" icon once in the analysis tab.

Actually saletinho’s commet is useful

Maanche

It's absolutely horrible but I guess not much can be done about it.

Hartsville54

While adding games to the library has been answered by now clicking on another button and then the library icon you have to admit you managed to make an easy process more difficult, and to be honest the average player (like myself) would never have found these options.

Hi all! Sorry for the frustration with the new version of Game Review. I have migrated everybody in this thread who had a negative experience back to the old version of Game Review (let me know if it did not go through for you). We will eventually be moving to a new design, but will be sure to think through all of your feedback. Thanks as always for sharing your opinions. It helps make Chess.com and the community great!

I'd love to be migrated to the old version as well 🙏

If the staff feels that there is some advantage to the newer version (something that they have not explained so far) fine. There is a simple solution! Add an option to use either system. That way everyone is happy!

I'd like to be included as well. Thanks for the effort.

Yay!

TheDudeRobert

Bring back the old game review, or PLEASE put me back on the old game review.

Maintaining two versions of code long term isn't something that's feasible.

Then simply use the unbroken old system that no one was complaining about in the first place!

I have the same problem and I posted a forum asking what to do as well.

I think there is a setting but I don't know for sure. It is possible that Chess.com has updated the interface.

Based on everything I've seen posted, the current version is what's going to be kept, though there will likely be some modifications as time passes.

That is unfortunate, if the staff will not address this out of some form of ego then that speaks to a know problem (new ideas are not always better but there ego gets in the way). If the staff is doing this to save code space (money) then this site will eventually pay the price as more and more features are elimated (better moves or lines with the old system).

Martin_Stahl

I don't believe there's any cost savings involved with the new version.

The new game review is terrible. I really don't understand why this is being forced fed upon us. I would like a revert back to the old. Easiest way to improve it. Other sites now have clearly superior game review. I would love to see a vote of some sort to see if it's even close. I would estimate that 80% or higher hate it. If you are able to revert back to certain accounts then I would like that.

Martin,

It looks to me like there is no more than cosmetic "improvements" and clear loss of features. There are two specific examples: training suggestions and estimated ratings. Both were useful, and were among the reasons I renewed my membership. So I have two questions:
1.) Elsewhere in this thread, someone asked for an articulation of the benefits of the new interface over the old interface. That seems a very fair question, and I would like to ask that the feature owner or dev involved respond with a pro/con analysis.

2.) Given that I find the reduction in features pretty dramatic, is it possible to get a prorated refund on my membership? Assuming nothing in the answer to #1 convinces me otherwise, I see cosmetic changes that I don't value and loss of features than I did value. That is not exactly what I signed up for, and am considering going back to being a non-paying member.

Today, I had for the first time the new 'game review' and it is horrible. It doesn't make any sense and it is a downgrade. This is ridiculous. I pay more than 100 Euro a year for a diamond subscription and they come up this? If this doesn't change, I will not renew my membership. This is just a sign of disrespect from chess.com.

Estimated ratings is still there but the training suggestions was removed. On that latter, I believe they weren't used too often.

Staff has posted in the topic about some things, though I don't believe additional posts will be made about why the changes were all made

Regarding 2, you would need to ask staff about it if you decided to go that route.

mercatorproject

This is a very unpopular change, staff have to admit.
