GET PAID FOR PLAYING CHESS

Sort:
MACRINUS

Hi everybody, I’ve decided to start up this forum in order to discuss with all of you, who thinks that it would be great to get paid for playing chess and hanging around many hours a day in here. My axiom is: “We all here, love playing chess and would be fully satisfied in case we get paid for it”.

The idea I wish to develop with you friends, is to convince our websites administrators to implement a “get paid for clicking ads” payment system within chess.com, as they do it in such famous publicity websites. We should be paid for viewing, reading or participating in forums or activities in chess.com, and even for achieving a certain number of chess games. As you can see, the idea need to be developed upon a basis of “participation”; so those of us whom spent more time in the site, would get an extra reward, besides of the pleasure of being here, playing chess with friends from all over the world.

Waiting for your comments pals…

A:- Chess and money!

They'll have to buy dinner, too. (I may be easy, but I'm not cheap!)

Not exactly pals, the forum you mention, talks about chess for money, the winner take the bet. I'am talking about a "participation" based reward.

Why would we need money when we've got chess?

Martin_Stahl

Why would the site want to do something like that? They get a ton of content and activity without paying for it (excluding, of course the content they are already paying for).

Because if they do that, it will bring chess to a new level of popularity worldwide. People adore soccer and ball games partly because of its inherent commercial specifities. Chess lacks of interest because it does not sound like a financially attractive sport.

DiogenesDue

Chess.com is a business.  They only want to "bring chess to a new level of popularity" if it also increases their bottom line.  Your suggestion does the opposite.

This is much like the people who were saying that some Silicon Valley billionaire should pick up the tab for the candidates tournament, comparing the idea to Ellison backing the America's Cup...that would be pure charity for chess, however, and also won't be happening.  There has to be something in it for the backer/sponsor.  Realistically, IBM already got all the publicity out of chess that was there for the taking...why sponsor a world championship where the winner would get trounced by a smartphone app?

Well, so let's work it out with those interested in the principle. I have no doubt that our website is visited daily by individuals with enoumous intellectual potentials, I'd like this forum to come up with some genius ideas that could lead us soon to the realization of an interesting ideal: earning money while playing and hanging around in chess.com. Let's be creative and greedy meanwhile checkmating our adversaries.

They could have paid for content creation, tutorial, article, problem etc... but it will attract lots of wrong, poor, duplicate, stolen content at the end moderation will cost more. But may be they can do this like, you have to sent content 30 seperate days at least 100 in sum they will check it, if they like quality of it they will start paying for it and check their quality randomly from time to time to be sure you dont post anything low quality, if you start being lazy they can remove your right to sell your chess work to site (temporarily or permanently etc.)

EscherehcsE

I told the Starbucks manager that he should pay me for hanging around his joint. He didn't get it either.

I have to admit, this is one of the funnier threads I've read recently.

Dream on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"earning money while hanging around in chess.com".  Undecided  Erik already owes me $200,000.

adumbrate

This is the same as getting money for going to school XD

Pawnpusher103

Your idea might fly Reza but Chess.com might want a cut of the action or a percentage !Smile

Look Andreas, we are not asking for fast payments, we want to consider the possibilities of creating a new kind of job online. These exists in many websites, get paid for clicking ads, gambling website, get paid for reading mails, etc...Our chess.com community is bigger than any of those commercial websites, I'm not absolutely sure, but i assume we have at least 7 million people registered here. Some of us, should be able to be rewarded for being good promoters of the site and chess as sport alike. The challenge is to find the way, or even to create new ways to reach this goal. I'm sure somebody will come with a brilliant idea soon. Let's keep on chatting the point ...
