GG Etiquette?

If I checkmate an opponent and they are kind enough to text me “GG”, what is my best response without sounding like a putz? Is “Thanks” enough, or is “Thanks, you too” better even if I didn’t feel they played a GG? Or “Thanks GG” or just “GG”.

All of the options seem good to me as they are polite but I ain’t no expert

Just tell them politely what they need to work on. “You need to to work on not hanging your Queen all the time. I’m only saying this because I’m better than you.”

Do not talk, play.

Use Focus Mode.

"Likewise, good luck in your future games"

"Thanks" or "Thank you" are perfectly fine. If they didn't play a good game, probably best not to say "gg."

JBarryChess

Maybe we need a "Good Game" button for a game that was played which would notify the other player that you thought the game was good. A "thumbs up" indicator (but no "thumbs down", lol )

They used to let you give trophies to your opponent on good games.
