what about something like this when you rollover their name?

That looks great - perfect, but could you possibly make it so the text appears black no matter what text colours you're using? My theme is black and text white so I have to highlight the words to see them it all.

Nifty new feature erik and crew, looking forward to its implementation.

Now if only we could enlarge the boards of the games of our super heroes found in the news section.

Holy molly, did I just ask for more?  Please pardon the impudence.  Forgive me, its just that I came in here all set to give this answer to what I thought was a general question and couldn't help myself.Embarassed

# 9 looks pretty good.  I think current rating would be more relevant than best rating.  Also if there is an option to give a trophy here, maybe there should be trophies available for exceptionally well thought out forum posts.  Just an idea.

"best rating" would mean the best CURRENT rating from turn-based chess and the 3 live ratings :) some people only play one type well.

Hmm, dunno, it seems as though we may be trying to cram to much into this poor little box.  What will happen if it bursts open into a thread all over unsuspecting thread patrons?

Well, personally I thought the idea of a larger photo with a few essential stats was brilliant.  I mean, a picture tells a thousand words right?  In many cases members avatars give more insight into their psyche then other stuff, and in many cases they are hard to decipher.  We want to know each other better don't we? (not just what rating we are flexing).

U know would be great if we could have a play back for our moves list up to the point of its last move. So we dont have to keep pressing it but just one press it and there u go it plays the moves out for u.with a stop and speed motion of how fast they move each move of the reply that sort of thing if possible...Cool

How about some extra tick boxes on your Profile page indicating your preferences in the Great Debates:

Resign when game lost?   Yes/No/Unspecified
Chat during game?  Yes/No/Unspecified
Correspondence chess?  Yes/No/Unspecified
LiveChess?  Yes/No/Unspecified

Then display these symbols in the pop-up profile.

Great the way you presented it above Erik.

Cool stuff... Make sure that if you design with a fixed background you also fix the foreground color for the font. ;-)

I think a rollover like that would be wonderful. I suggest we investigate the javascript behind Google Webmaster Tool's site.

I think it should definitely also include the number of games the person has played and their average, because their rating evens out more the games they have played.  For example, I have seen players with ratings in my ballpark (beginner) and then found out that this is only their 5th game, and that they are really good, and then have stomped me.  If I see that a person has played 300 games and has an average of 1100, then I know that is a pretty solid average.

1. Correspondence Chess rules tendency (i.e. freely uses DBs, books, Game Explorer, Analysis Board, ...) Yes/No/Unspecified

2. Resignation tendency ...

3. Chat tendency ...

(These would be a top-level summary of the punted Expanded Personal Profile).

Hey Erik. I think a great idea for this website is having a puzzle section that allows players to communicate via typing. I think, in order for this to work, the puzzle section should have an order of difficulty and information that tells people how many players are viewing a certain number of puzzles and if you want to "Join" in on that puzzle.

If that is too much of a hazzle then we should make the puzzle section have changing intervals of 2 minutes and a "Guess the Move or Moves" box. Once everyone wrote their answers, they must wait til the timer goes off til it shows the answer and changes the puzzle. This way players can talk to each other while learning in a great way. I would totally pay if this site offered this because no other site does xept chesstempo.com but with added features.

I know its kind of simple to dailypuzzle but I like the idea and people can havve their own ratings. It would take a lot of effort but I think we should make a survey on live for who wants this and who doesn't.
