Can I try? Can I try? Pleeaase

I think your boyfriend is....*drumroll*.... 2DecadePlayer!

On topic: If chess.com would dissapear, I'd learn all there is to learn about web design and make it back the way it used to be. :)

tarrasch, lol...I see Mark already stepped up and gave himself away! You're REALLY paying attention to realize he was 2DecadePlayer since he's no longer posting under that name! That one'll go bye-bye in a few days :)

And, btw, I love your solution to the hypothetical disappearance of chess.com! SO ambitious! :D

This is PURELY a custome satisfaction survey. No changes of any kind will be made.

Every student of economic history will easily tell u that a customer satisfaction survey always precede a rate increase.  This survey is a way to measure the utility value to the customer, given chess.com utility value >1,  we the addicted will simply be ready to pay whatever Erik and Co decides to hit us with!

Oh, I REALLY hope this isn't true any time soon. The decision to become premium members was a big one. There will be a full year committment as a Diamond member in a few days, and I'm considering committing to a full year too, but if the rates go up---oh, boy. There are so few outlets for people who are largely housebound, and this is a wonderfully wholesome (for the most part---I came across a thread that was bordering on p--n), thought-provoking, inspiring, nurturing and creative place that's open to all age groups and people of all cultures. Erik, please keep this attainable for the average Joe, and those of us who can't afford entertainment, in general. This site is more of a godsend than you can imagine :) I absolutely LOVE Mark's discovery of it; we're both enjoying it more than you know!

There is always a beginning and and end, lol.

But not for Chess.com.

ChessMarkstheSpot

After sleeping and waking up to this and almost forgetting about it, I have come to the conclusion that it would be really bad.  LOL

Don't forget to PANIC!!!!

ChessMarkstheSpot

Panic set in when I first saw the thread. There are not enough words in the english dictionary to explain what I was initially feeling. Granted we are all having fun with the topic now but oh boy, it was rough in the beginning.

Lampman

My life would have no significance whatsoever. Where else would I find a chess playing site with such superb details, live chess, chess mentor, tactics trainer.... and so on.

Massage to chess.com's ego completed ;-)

I think that if chess.com went down, people would make another site to replace it. Like if youtube didn't exist, It would be replaced very quickly but we can calm down (sort of )

yes but it will never be the same.

ChessMarkstheSpot

Although nothing can replace the original. Just like the movies, the original is the best and the sequels stink :)

bondocel

I have the feeling that there are too few chess sites. Only two big sharks and some little fish nobody cares of. Chess.com looks now as a small shark, who needs to eat a lot :) I honestly fear that one big shark will swallow chess.com one day, as it swallowed some other promising chess sites in the past.

ChessMarkstheSpot

I guess that's fitting since it is Shark Week on the Discovery Channel lol

littlehotpot

what would we do if the server set it's self on fire and it was destroyed completely

ChessMarkstheSpot

I don't know..I've run out of possible Chess.com apocalypse ideas. Maybe just cry. :)

benws

I guess I'd be very disappointed. But all I do on here is write posts and comment on other posts.

So I don't know if I'd be missing anything if the site disappeared.
