Before a game, I usually go over a few opening lines I'm comfortable with and try to mentally run through possible opponent responses. I also take a few minutes to just breathe and clear my head—being calm helps me avoid silly blunders. One thing that’s really helped me stay focused and track my routines is using forms like https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/Q3Sy541f3l50tmva3r to jot down pre-game habits and reflections. It keeps my prep consistent, especially during tournaments. Anyone else use tools like that?

I always thought that sports analytics is just a bunch of numbers. But one day, while discussing the accuracy of basketball predictions with a friend, he advised me to read more about collecting statistics. I came across https://www.cappertek.com/blog.asp?b=how-sports-stats-are-collected and really got hooked. It turned out that behind the simple numbers there is a huge system of observations, technologies, and data processing. Now, when I watch a game, I pay attention to completely different things. And this added interest to the viewing itself.

Oh! actually I'll set my incoming challenges at really high but only -25 for the lowest and then I'll play unrated for a couple of games. When it's unrated you'll often get matched up with much higher rated opponents (like 200-300 higher) so when you go back to rated you're still playing like your opponent is rated way higher than you. Also you get to see the good moves that the higher rated opponents do and for me it kind of inspires my game a bit.
