How does Chess.com scoring work?

Anybody know what the formula is for how the scores are calculated for two users playing on Chess.com?  What happens if their scores change during a given game; is the score caluclation based on their starting score, the ending score, or the average?  Q: If two players have exactly the same score, play each other & draw, does either's score change?

The Chess.com online chess uses the "Glicko" system. You can see more information about this rating system at http://math.bu.edu/people/mg/glicko/glicko.doc/glicko.html

To answer your questions, if a player's rating changes during a game then the new updated rating is the one used at the end of the game to calculate the two player's new ratings. Also if two players of the exact same rating play each other and the game ends in a draw then both players ratings should stay the same.

I got a message about my "fairplay" score - or something like it.
I should be able to retrieve it.

Can somebody explain please.

Could you clarify? There's nothing related to fair play on accounts that is accessable.

Also, a new topic, rather than a reply to an almost 15 year old post would have been better. wink.png
