How good is 1600 blitz rating on chess com?

1600 number feels like not being too strong, just by looking at the number, but i feel that players in this category aren't that bad, i am 1800+ fide with some wins and draws with master candidates 1900-2200 OTB, ok those are slow time games(1 h and 30 m with increment of 30 seconds), maybe i am better when i have time to calculate deeply, but i feel like chess com rating around 1600 represent FIDE 1800+ rating OTB.

I just want to confirm my thoughts and to feel like i am not too bad grin.png

It's reasonable. But don't worry about it. It's blitz. There was a time where I was >2400 at the tactics trainer, but only about 1300 for blitz.

My opinion on online ratings is that it's a measure of your strength, but also consistency. A lot of people are way better in longer time controls. What I found hard about getting a high rating is that I won the same amount of games that I lost. It's hard to focus game after game because you have the mentality that you can just win the next one if you're losing. So 1600 isn't a weak rating, it just means you gotta be more consistent.

1600 is quite good already for Bullet, but probably not for Blitz. I do not mean those 1/0 Bullet games....

Who cares about ratings? Just play and have fun. Anyway, 1600 is very good, but otb ratings are different of chess.com ratings.

I had 1850 rating OTB and 1600 blitz here.... chess com ratings are probably deflated.
But I am a deep calculating guy, even when i started playing chess and had no clue. So when i played blitz games I had a habit to lose many minutes on one move - but i worked on playing more by faster feeling and using calculating skills sparingly and that's probably why my rating is now 1800.

Im probably 1950+ strenght OTB just i dont have it confirmed cause i dont have time for tourneys. I have outplayed 2000-2150 player few times.

On lichess my bullet was 2050 once. And blitz 1960

1800 is around C player at least in my country,  1900 B
2000 is A player
2100 Candidate
2250 Fide master
2300 something+ International master
2450 Grandmaster...

I guess in USA it is different...

My blitz rating is usually 1900-2000. When I play too late at night after too many drinks, it can drop to the low 1800s or even below 1800. I’m not very good. Estimated FIDE would be about 1400.

No matter your ratings. Best outta three with me. Hmu??

Im 1600 an feel the moment you get to rising, they place you way outta your league of present play. Which is cool but you dont gain a point score to the equivalent for beating a way higher  opponent. But it’s very mind delighting having so many worthwhile chess players in one place. As I strive to beat you all🤓

The only rating that matters is a (OTB) FIDE rating. And in a sense perhaps a national rating (depending how closely it corresponds with your FIDE rating).

1600 will rarely give trouble to 2000 people. ( win 10% , lose 90%). But strong enough to do the same damage to average rating in here (1200).

That being said, how good your opponent is just your perception. If you get 50% win  and 50% lose against 1600, then you feel they are good and your rating will be 1600.

No one has to guess or speculate. If you go to your home page and click on any one of your rating stats, and then click full stats you can see what percentile of all players you fall in.

A 1600 blitz rating puts you in about the top 10%

the problem i had was that i was insecure about my chess skills.  But ratings of Fide and here are weirdly correlated.   On chess com there are many 3000+ players while on fide there are none.

My estimation is just that 1600 chess com players are stronger than 1600 FIDE players. probably around 150-200 points stronger.

It doesnt matter i m now 1840 , im in top 3,7% XD

There is no way you can be top 3.7 % with 1800+.

While I was active in here with 2000+ rating, they count me as top 1%.

( Because they also count inactive and all registered accounts). They also count members in this site as 30 million . happy.png

In fact, I go to other site and I get top 5% only.

If they count only active members, 1800+ should be top 10-15%.
