The king is trapped but not in check, and he cannot make a move. So, the only reasonable outcome is to end the game with a draw.

Liverpool never has draws, so why is Wolfy deliberately taking stalemate draws? happy.png

AussieRookie, Unfortunately, we (LFC) have a lot of draws this Season (too many)  and a few terrible defeats to some bottom feeders! We have Man City tomorrow in a MUST Win, we have dropped from top to 4th. YNWA

@sameer_chess-play this is a stalemate because the black king can't go to g5, it'll be captured by the pawn, nor f5 or f7, it'll be captured by the queen, and king is not in check.

and the other one, the one with a billion queens, the king can go to e2

The general rule of thumb is to try to check your opponent every opportunity that you get so it never ends in stalemate until you get him info a mating net of sorts or corner him

I'm white, U have 2:20 mins left on the clock. I've taken all his pieces. I have a Queen and a Rook and 4 pawns, one I could get to upgrade in 3 moves? He's dodging allover the board, and it pops up 'Stalemate'? This is an absolute Joke! What's the 10 minutes for if I spend 7 of them to get in such a powerful winning position to be told it's a Stalemate? How the hell is this a Stalemate? Anyone? I'm quite upset about this, I'd worked hard to remove all his pieces and had him on the run! It should be a resignation, or I win in a couple more moves? Anyome?

Ever since that game, you had 16 stalemates, in which you were the side getting stalemated in 14 of them.

Unfortunately, you are unlikely to see this text since you have been offline for months.

The whole issue was fixed more than 2 years ago, when the OP finally learned what a stalemate is. Why is this thread still running?
