I get friend requests from people that I neither known or have played literally daily. I get messages saying “hi” multiple times a week. I put a rainbow on my flair so that people would think that I’m gay in hopes that it would stop, but no. I’ve considered changing my pic to a dude and changing my screen name to that of a man, but I got mad at myself for even considering it.

So the answer is yes: you will get a lot more attention if that’s what you crave.

I can imagine...

I once made a WoW account and pretended to be female, just to see what it's like. Within a week, I had a random guy message me daily, always wanting to get to know me, and insisting that I get on discord so he can talk to me through voice.

I was tempted to go on discord and scare him with my deep voice lol. But I left it at that.

Meanwhile, I've had a Chess.com account for 13 years and not a single person has ever been interested in asking me about real life stuff or getting to know me. Any conversations I have with people are strictly about chess. It's funny just how different it is.

Maybe the crazy clown handle and avatar have something to do with that, haha.

Report him please.
This site is about playing chess, not about being horny and looking for chicks...
I'm sorry you have to deal with this. As a male, I only have to deal with players who stall, taunt or cheat...

Oh I already have and blocked him

Who'd have thought every thing in the fricking universe is full of pervs!

Why do people even try to find dates here anyway?

blackfirestorm

Cuz they mistake it for chest.com

It must be that is the only reason I can think of grin.png

To each his/her own? Maybe?

I have been a member for only few weeks, used my own photo as my profile, yet I have not had any single experience of getting disrespected. While I gained only few friends, all of my conversation with them are very, very respectful and very friendly. None of the players that I friended here ever demonstrated any offensive notion, and all of them showed maturity in our conversation.

Maybe I am one of the few who are lucky, but those people who may read this know who they are, and I am very thankful for knowing them. Interesting enough, I haven’t played a single game against any of them.

This is a great site, you just need to know how to make the best out of it.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened with you but tbh that's what the world has boiled down to. Millions of years of evolution to reach to this point but all we are left with is a few genuine modest people  in a sea of pervs, hatemongers, simps, voilent people and just generally deplorable people

I'm a bloke and almost no one on here talks to me, during or after games etc. Not that that bothers me since i rarely speak to my opponents either, but apparantly if you're a woman on here you get loads of attention. Whether said attention is welcome is another matter.

Just curious to know Is this true? If i decided i wanted to become more popular, do i just need to change my profile pic to some pretty model or something?

Dude you get a mention for the coolest profile pic ever. Maybe you are agadmator in disguise(the ratings are close too looooooooooooooool)

I had a really awkward conversation with a non-player outside of the hotel that had the chess tournament. I was between rounds, and he was smoking.

He kept calling it "chest" and when I'd start to laugh he'd get this look on his face like "are you making fun of me?" Eventually I just made an awkward excuse and walked away.

If you want to fake being a girl to get attention, just change your screen name to a female one and put some anime girl as your profile pick.  Works because there are many pervs and kids.  I even know someone who got 60 people in her club in 1 day just because she's a girl.

I don't know why anybody would care. Guys have been pretending to be females online since the internet was a thing.  Other guys are just setting themselves up to be catfished.  Just say you are a guy.

Hey ! ........what about us guy’s, we need attention, don’t you know ! ✌️😎

Just sayin'.  Faking being a girl will get you a lot of attention.

But we all need attention.  You'll just have to look somewhere else.  Or maybe actually chess a lot and rack up a huge rating.
