I want people to be able to have a little beige board of the game that doesn't autoplay and they can move forwards one move at a time to the end.
How to post from a certain point in a game that doesn't have a game link

i see people do it, with the little beige boards, but when i try to do it, it posts the whole game usually from the start.
how can i do it so that it's from point X in the game, and can't be attributed to a real findable game?
I ask not because of any nefarious motivation, but sometimes the terrible blunders or missed knight forks etc detract from the point / question I am trying to formulate.
One way is to set the initial position, then add the moves, and use that to post.
It doesn't appear that the editor on the insert diagram or the Analysis Board allows stripping the previous moves in a game. I use SCIDvsPC which has that option.

I've submitted a suggestion that the ability to strip moves get added to the analysis board editor. I assume code gets reused for the diagram editor too so if it was added both features would get it.

Are you asking about posting games in a forum thread?
In the past when posting a game PGN, I thought the “Moves” tab allowed you to select the initial move of a game post. It would not delete or remove the prior moves of the game. I could paste a PGN and then go to the Moves tab and select the initial move.
For sometime now, that feature has not been working. The posted games just start from move #1.

Oh right. that could be correct, if the game is not identifiable. I am used to the ones I am talking about being beige boards with black and white solid pieces.

You might also be thinking of puzzle mode.
Set up a position then add moves and select puzzle mode. Then people can guess the sequence of moves from the starting diagram.
Be warned if you input an entire game and select puzzle mode, it will be asking people to guess every move of the game, not just the last move.

No not puzzle mode, I just want to copy / dl / share game and then post the rest of the game from a different position other than the start.
But I don't like those auto play gifs I want people to be able to stop and start the moves.
For discussion / analysis.
