HOW YOU FIRST ENCOUNTERED CHESS AND STARTED PLAYING!!

My Story of how I started playing chess and got hooked goes back to when I was 13 years old! it was a wet raining day and on luch breaks the Bell would sound and you were seconded to either the corridors of the school or outside, it was a wet day and outside the weather got worse? I starred through a window and saw one of the classrooms had a dozen kids playing with some wooden bits on a board, it was an excuse to get out of the rain so in I went and mingled pretending I waa interested!? suddenly this teacher tapped me on the shoulder said sit down son let's play, I had no idea how to play, I told him I liked the black bits and he opened with first moves, every move he made i copied exactly, he scratched his head and after eight moves he moved this tall piece all way out and said "CHECK" so I did the same saying the same?! Got you he said, puzzled I said what, he replied your in check, he glared at me and said you never played before have you? I told him No I just wanted to be out of the rain, so ended my first lesson and I became a member of the school chess club and learnt how to play I am now 68 years old but recall with amusement that first encounter with chess!
