We have all probably been through this before
Your rating will eventually go back up once opponents get too easy and you get a winning streak

Everything in moderation, do other things then give it another shot. Rinse and repeat, you are only frustrated at losing.

... Why do you spam club invites in random forums... do it in pm’s there’s a reason this forum exists this doesn’t help at all what do you think he’s magically going to play chess again after joining this club? I highly doubt it.(I know he still plays I wrote this to prove a point).
Here you are a high rated player and feeling down about your game, while many lower rated players are feeling the same things . . .
In my case I've had fun for about 70 years and could not get higher than 1644 ratings. . . At 85 years old I'm only 1333 I can't go up but slowly decreasing down. . . . But once in a while I find combinations in my game which boost my pleasure up, while I lose other by dumb absurd moves i shouldn't have made . . .
Id suggest one book for you while not playing so much here is the cover of it . . . I bought two version but neither of them helped me i only picked up a little from them. . .it's for players that are 2000 ratings. . . .
But i find happiness in helping beginners to learn the game.
Make sure you get the newest version. Although the books cover different stylr games for White and Black. . . .
I get books at THRIFTY BOOK ONLINE, Amazon might have them . . .
I have been playing chess for seven years now, at times it get boring. I think if you take a small break instead of giving up then it could be very beneficial.
Don't quit! Winning isn't everything, chess is only for having fun. Wins, badges, medals, elo. They all don't matter. What's important in chess is not cheating, it's also very important to play fair. After a loss, soon a win might come up. My dad told me all about everything when losing in chess. He said everything is an up or down, win means up and lose means down. He said after a loss, an up might come. Chess.com is for fun, not for elo, or rewards. The most important thing is you got to play. Quitting isn't also good to do. The champions we have rn, that are playing. Before, they have experienced lots of loss, but they didn't gave up. So thats how they're are champions or grandmasters like today. So pls do not give up! If you are very tired, just go and rest. Giving up isn't always good.
Hi everyone. I am feeling extremely frustrated and demotivated and this is the only place that I can vent my frustration so apologies if this wastes anyone's time.
Up until about 2 months ago I was playing and studying chess daily. It was extremely fun and satisfying to keep on learning and improving. Unfortunately this led to me burning out, as I tend to take things to the extremes when I enjoy something, and I went on a hiatus for a few months.
Now recently I came back into it, playing here and there, and then the first "night grind" started. I sat down the one Friday night and decided to start seriously playing again. Loss after loss started rolling in and my frustration started building. At first I thought ah well what the heck, I'm probably on tilt or just tired or something, and so I closed the site and did something else, but unfortunately for my sanity, the losing didn't stop...
I played for a few days and things weren't getting better. I kept losing in the most ridiculous ways and the frustration built up so much that I just snapped... so I think I'm just done with chess. I can't do this anymore. About 300 rating points down the drain later and it feels as though all the hard hours of work I put into this game the past couple of years were wasted. I no longer have the energy nor the motivation to play.
Again, apologies if this little venting session wasted your time, but I just needed to get this out of my system.
Thank you to anyone who took the time reading this in full.
If chess isn't fun for you, then stop. Hikaru himself has said if he didn't take a break from chess at the right time he would never be a super GM...
I agree, but if you do enjoy chess and want to get better, then analyse your games deeply. You can learn more things without having to play that many games.
