I got a message from chess.com saying that I commited verbal abuse.

Alright, I've been muted before, but many of the reasons weren't my fault. I'm not going into that right now.

Apparently, I've been 'trash talking' during games. I turn off the setting to chat in live games! Why would I be doing that? Even after games, I send a good game trophy/award or say GG in messages. I don't understand how the system found this, or if there is some person who wants me to get banned from cc.

Chesscom said this:

We have received reports of verbal harassment or abuse from several of your recent opponents.

Footnote: Not being on topic here, but a couple months ago I also received a sandbagging strike. I tried contacting support but they didn't remove the strike.

What happens now?

Gaby

Edit:

Here is a screenshot of my privacy settings for proof that I don't use chat in daily and live games:

It sounds like you might be a repeat offender... on the watch list... or maybe you do not understand what it means to offend others. By your own admission, you said that you've been "trash talking". I think stopping that practice on all counts would be a step in the right direction.

The only problem is, I turn off the settings of chatting in live and daily games. This is the part I don't get.

That shouldn't be the case. They should be tracked down instead, not me

lol. Can anyone help me with this?

I'm quite uncertain about this. Especially after the sandbagging incident, I'm not sure it's worth my time writing it out if they don't respond. I feel like I'm in a situation where I have no way out.

@GabyNguyen Try this link:

General Support Request Form

Select "Account Closed or Restricted" and then answer the questions and follow the prompts. It may take a day or two to get a response, so be patient.

I can't even answer the first question. I used the same link for the sandbagging issue.

@GabyNguyen I'm not sure why you are unable to answer the question. Have you tried to select one of the other options? I think the challenge is to get you to a point in the Q&A process where you can type-in what is happening, or possibly enter into a true email exchange.

And on that note, try to email Chess.com support at this address <support@chess.com>.

Good luck!

These days, calling someone the wrong pronoun is verbal abuse.

Ignore it.

Contact staff to check. I got one two months ago and so I complained to a customer services manager about it when I was talking to him about something else. He told me that he investigated it and it seemed there was a fault. There was no reason I should have got such a message, so he apologised.

People should read the posts and focus.

True.

"Verbal Abuse" is not limited to in-game chat. It also includes the forums. Maybe you said something inappropriate for the forums such as swearing? In any case, here is the tos. Member conduct is about halfway down: https://www.chess.com/legal/user-agreement

Then I would be muted right now. Besides, they specifically told me to stop the game chatting. But maybe, however, I'm pretty sure I did not do that. Even if I did swear, (which I never do) chess.com will give me an alert saying it doesn't fit community guidelines (an alert similar to when you press post in forums).

I agree Ignore it completely but if you keep getting messages from chess.com then ask them what proof did the people who reported you give
