I think even worse is that I just red the title, first 2 sentences from post number 1 and proceeded to post my comment.
I promise I will be modest and polite

Ok, I now red the first 4 posts. And I have to disagree.
To keep the trolls at bay you have to become a troll yourself and show them how its done.
SHEDINJAS VUELVE AL TROLLEO PLOX.

Im young, and that song has always been in my mind.
Spongebob was the only good thing que pasaban en el canal 5.

You seem to have taken personal offense to my comment when I think it's obvious that it wasn't at all directed at your posts. I'm referring to what I see when I browse through the threads in General Discussion. A single post of yours comes up on page 3. That's hardly the mess I am talking about. And your posts read more to me like articles than actual invitations to an exchanging of ideas. And that is perfectly fine, I would encourage posts like that, they are just not for me.
You also seem to imply that I only post on the meaningless threads I am talking about. And yet here and now we're conversing in a very good thread that was started with meaningful intent. I mostly ignore the posts I have a problem with, only occasionally jumping in to call for a mod as is the case of the kid who just posted 14 topics in less than 24 hours ranging from falling in love to being a spy for the KGB... But even meaningful topics can be derailed by trolls, as OP mentioned. And many topics go on far too long even though they break chess.com's own rules of being irrelevant to the original post.

This is the crap I'm talking about. There is no meaningful moderation. He's posting freaking Spongebob videos that are completely irrelevant to the topic. I can't change how the site is run. I can add content, but I can't control annoying, unintelligent people doing what they do best. Better to just stay off the forums all together.

You seem to have taken personal offense to my comment
Actually I don't in the least. I was simply using your post as a springboard into a somewhat similar, somewhat different area.

why are you so concerned if you sinned
everyone makes mistakes
the important thing is for us to learn from them and move on

This used to be a great community but now the forums are just meaningless fluff. Even the serious posts are either repetitive or are so stupid that they might as well be trolling.
To be blunt, but with no malice intended, I resent that analysis. Several months back I also felt (and still do) that the forums were riding a runaway train downhill waiting to crash and burn. Rather than complain, which is useless anyway, I decided to make a concerted effort to contribute towards improving the forums by posting somewhat serious, and what I perceived to be interesting and original, content, though admittedly not for everyone. So far and for the most part my efforts have proved futile as gauged by the number of responses, the number of different individuals responding and the lack of general improvement in the forums. For a list of these threads -so you can judge their fluffiness for yourself - go to : https://www.chess.com/member/batgirl
There's definitely a place in the forums for all different content and behavior. But to see a general uplifting, there has to be an effort exerted by those who want such a change. There also has to be some partaking in the more serious threads. To complain about lightweight threads and troll posters and then only contribute to those same lightweight threads populated by those same troll posters is a bit incongruous. Allowing only those types of threads of flourish is flirting with disaster. We need variety, but we also need involvement.
Anyway, that's my position for what it's worth.
Most people would post crap if it weren't that 50% of the forums are other users posting crap.
What is happening to the readers. It is sad to see my chum shedinjas having to bump his own thread 4 times so someone comments on it.
