If the Kids Online Safety Act or a similar act were to get passed, would kids under 13 be banned?

There are a few acts being passed around in Congress in the US that might prohibit kids under 13 from using social media at all. Would kids under 13 be banned from chess.com?

This will be just one more unenforceable law. Our electeds will feel so proud of themselves won't they?

Without hearing an outside voice of reason, I wonder if kids will become misinformed by those who want everyone to think a certain way.

And no, social media isn't a good source of reason and logic.

This will never happen. If it does then the US state might be in a crisis because without kids such apps like Facebook will have no reliable source of getting infomation as well as Google. However if this law was passed then it would be good since there wouldnt be any threats from wealths from all around the world being concetrated by the 1% elites. This however is unlikely to happen since companies want to expand their ways in marketing. Facebook and Google would have no infomation on what they should focus on what people like to see or dont. For example Google may want to reach a point where it can answer all of your questions.

A chess website is not "social media" in any sense.

And in the worst case scenario (such law comes to power in the US, and a court decides that it also applies to chess sites) chess.com might simply move their HQ to some other country.

I am trying to imagine this. The USA trying to sue an international corporation based on an US law that declares "chess is social media". I know that crazy things happen every day all over the world, but this seems a bit too extreme for my imagination.

The forum is considered social media. An old form, but social media just the same.
