I was "beatin" a$$ on pogo chess and told a couple people because they didnt leave after they were beat

erik, as a thought can't you add a drop down box or something to the joining page asking where the joining user heard about the site ? I joined ages ago so can't remember if there is one there already.
hamham
My brother redirected me after he played a couple of games against little chesspartner here on the site.

Yeah, my guess as to why the big surge is because of the new widget tools for the members to put links on their websites to Chess.com
KnightNotHorse
Not to be a pessimist, but these were all legit accounts opened, I hope?  Just making sure there isn't some computer punk screwing around with the site...Yell

It makes sense that the widgets and badges would have had an effect.  I seem to remember suggesting the idea a long time ago, so it's nice to see it eventually come to fruition! Wink

how hard did he hit you when he "redirected" you ???   did he use a weapon such as the baseball bat or hockey stick? if so, you can get him on assault.  if he used his open hand to redirect you, and didn't leave significant marks, you are out of luck.

Speaking of "redirecting", that reminds me of when Jack Torrence met Delbert Grady in the Overlook Hotel's bathroom in that amazing scene in The Shining, and uttered the following:

My girls, sir, they didn't care for the Overlook at first. One of them actually stole a pack of matches, and tried to burn it down. But I "corrected" them sir. And when my wife tried to prevent me from doing my duty, I "corrected" her.

Ok, ok, getting WAAAY off topic...but what a brilliant movie!

My favorite Broadway play is Spamalot, thusly my 998 spamed double dealing low down cheating extra accounts. Erik said I couldn't do it and boy does it feel good to have his $1 dollar and his contrite remarks :))- Anyone want to bet me on the crop reports coming out??

I started playing Chess Pro on Facebook over the last couple of weeks, then came across this place via Google and registered over the weekend. I'm quite impressed with it so far!
SirDonald

Dear Erik,

I am elated to hear of the explosive growth in new membership registrations. As chess enthusiasts become aware of this superior site with all of the upgrades it can only catapult the growth. I think more people have recently become aware by:

1) Ad in the recent addition of Chess Life

2) Positive word of mouth by an ever expanding member base

3) The Chess.com shirts that many of us wear proudly

4) The Easter Weekend where many folks had the time away from their usual routine and could devout some of it to their passion-Chess/and this site.

In summary: Superior product/service + Increased targeted public awareness + opportunity for those interested to engage = Phenomenal Growth!

Congratulations! May there be continued success!

Cordially,

SirDonald

Erik,

Suggested idea for increasing publicity at relatively low front-end cost:

Send out bumper stickers for all those who are premium members.... (except for those who specifically don't want them.     )

just a thought.  that will get a few thousand vehicles advertising for your site for a long time to come.

ummmm...... no.Yell

now if he sent us chess.com tattoos .....
