You have missed my point entirely. Nothing bad happens in your life if you lose elo. You don't get fined, or lose your house and become homeless. It's all in your head. And if you are that fixated on these numbers, you will never improve because you won't be in the right head space.

Why be bothered online ratings are not even a official Elo as far as these ratings go the only Elo that counts is the Rating you have earned over the board as recognised by FIDE, I never get concerned over online ratings as they are not official and are only a basic guide to ones chess abillity.
