i was participating then the author banned me from posting and sending PM's but my homepage kept alerting me when there was a new message. quite annoying.

Yedddy wasnt as bad as this one user on Youtube that created multiple accounts just to dislike my video, LOL!

The guy accused me of not being 2000, and basically in the end he tried to smack talk a lot and disliked it. I know it's him because before today, no one disliked any of my videos i guess.

Its a real shame that people have to behave that way.

I like your style of delivery man and for me its pretty good and easy to follow (thats why I subscribed Wink), but for beginners you might be going through your content a little quickly and sort of "skimming over" the strategy behind the moves. Maybe thats just my thoughts, and i could be guilty of doing the same thing in my videos too.

Please do check out my channel>> https://www.youtube.com/user/brendanjnorman  and let me know what you think InfiniteFlash, maybe I'm doing the same thing...but I dunno.

I do like your "no B.S, yet polite" approach though and will keep an eye out...but maybe beginners might think you're going too fast? Just some honest feedback anyway... Wink

By the way, is taking on d5 with the pawn in the Carlsen-VLG really that bad? I guess the c8 bishop isnt too great, but also in IQP positions you don't really wanna swap all the minor pieces...I dunno Smile

I am sorry to say to beginners that my channel is not recommendable for them, LOL! The channel is meant for intermediate and advacned players. The target audience is really around 1200-1800, maybe a little higher I suppose. Then again, hopefully the videos are informative or entertaining which implies NO targeted audience.

I could do beginner videos in the future, but the format and the way I speak would have to be changed. Not sure if i wanna do that yet.

I realize doing beginner videos would bring in more subscribers for me, but frankly speaking, I wouldn't enjoy doing them as much as the videos I post with my own thoughts as they are not so broken down here, very similiar to Chessexplained's videos. I would really have to go back to learn how to teach the basics to please that audience. Maybe its a good idea to that, though.

I will do so, probably on friday. The best place to ask for advice on these things btw, is your audience. Try to encourage your audience to interact with you. People will post comments eventually.

It's not a mistake, its just he runs into a rather forced tactical sequence which leaves black worse. Not bad, but Nxd5 leaves less problems imo.

Sometimes though I think people use the "advanced players" thing as an excuse to not really convince viewers about some idea  (opening books for example, which can show so many variations you might as well consult a database instead). It's always good to give some idea of a follow up when evaluating a position, but it can still be brief, like maybe drawing a few arrows and then saying what threats they are supposed to create, why or why not you think those threats will be hard to meet. Otherwise it can get kind of vague -- sometimes strong players will just say "with compensation"; while they are probably right, a viewer will want to distinguish between positions where there is compensation for a sacrifice, and similar looking positions where there is not, as that is a common problem.

As said before though, one can't cover everything and they do have to choose sometimes what is more important. So it's hard to say. You don't want to overdo it but you do want to make the viewer feel like they have learned something.
