Question is, will our live games finally show in game explorer? :D
In the impending V.3 update

Is there a release date for the all new platform Eric said was in development in the confrence call several months ago? Or is this just one of the patches he said were ongoing? I dont understand why they would be wasting time "improving" this platform if a new one is soon to be released. I could understand fixing some of the things that are broken like the spell checker in the messages.
Some time in June.

getting rid of notes seems odd. They say they are moving more towards messages. Sounds to me like disabling a feature where the only issue from the perspective of cc are those that write rude messages.
Everyone knows that responding via pm is not the same as a note.
The v3 blog is interseting, in that, the webmaster asks what we think. Many have responded, but there is no response from staff. Similar to the bugs thread.
cc has a plan, and, they're sticking to it.

I hated the last update for a few weeks and then learned to love it.
I expect the same thing this time: a brief adjustment period.

I haven't read the blog yet. I know I'll get crucified for this, but I suggest an economic approach to future versions. A sliding scale, so if you don't like this or that. You want notes,(a little more $$), someone doesn't want notes(cheaper). Like cable. $25 a month for the whole kit and kaboutle, or $5-7 a month for BASIC. NO POSTING PRIVILAGES!

I do not quite agree with the removal of photos as this provide a certain common ground for chess members to come to know each other better on so many different activities!
Storage issue was quite something in the past, but not today when our humble pc are fitted more and more with terrabytes memory!

I can understand the photos perhaps, except what about blogs containing images linked directly to photo albums?
Endless Quiz seems pointless anyway, but do useful categories such a Chessopedia (which a lot of people devoted a lot of time to create), the local clubs and events directory and download section utilize THAT many resourses to justify simply eliminating them? I can't see the benefit myself.
Local clubs? I'd go to uschess.org to find a much more comprehensive listing. I have to imaging that most countries have a governing body that also provides such lists.
The club section is something that will be missed but I imagine it isn't widely used. I've actually created a group with all the same information hoping that will be adequate as a replacement for that feature; though for basic members of the site, that isn't an option.
The USCF clubs page only lists paying affiliates. So, if you have a local club that doesn't want to pay the $40 a year for that, somewhere like here is (was?) a good place to advertise it too.
I have used the events before too but don't think I have ever had anyone attend a tourney because they saw it here.

Less is more, brahs. I think they should also get rid of profile pictures, or Avatars, or whatever they is called brah

When you say you are eliminating "downloads" do you mean eliminating just the download section, or are you also eliminating the ability to download our own games in pgn format?
I would not be in favor of eliminating the ability to download our own games.

None of these things are being kept.... that seems to be a fait accompli.
I was just curious if others were are disapponted as I.
Junk the entire scrap heap. Start over or before you can say boo... everyone will be been long gone to another site.
Latest I read and heard from a few on staff, v4 is soon on the way. A faster platform written with different coding. Something HAS to be done. The unacceptable lag during live play is driving everyone elsewhere to play.
