INTRODUCE YOURSELF

Hey y'all !
I am new here and like this site which was recommended to me by my sons, who are both members here. I am American (Georgia) that retired and moved to Lisbon in 1997. I played chess tournies since 1973 and now play mostly in Portugal. I earned the uscf NM title back in 1984 and have been stuck between 2200 and 2300 since then !
How did I end up in Portugal ? All I can say is for you to stay away from Latin gals ! :-)

Hey All!
My name is Trace, and I just found this site, and gotta say, it is mighty sweet. As for my chess-playing abilities, there is a lot of work to be done, but the main point is to keep the game fun, right? I love the new Map showing who is online and where in the world (literally) they are! Erik, you and your posse are doing a great job, and I hope this site just takes off -- looks like you a got a great start already! To those reading this post, feel free to drop me a line and say HI -- I don't know anyone here, but would like to change that quickly!

Thank you for introducing yourself. Those who did not introduce themselves yet please introduce yourself. Don't be shy. Look at my name above.

HI!
I'm new and somewhat uncomfortable with forums, but wanted to give this one a try. I found Chess.com on Facebook, to which I am also new.
I've been playing at chess since the late 1950's. It has been an on/off thing with years between the on's and off's. Now that I'm turning 60 and have a little time on my hands I though I would spend some of that time with a game I truly love and would like to get better at.
I've only been on Chess.com for a few minutes, so when I get more familiar with it perhaps you will be hearing more from me.

Awesome story, Reb! I love it!
I am originally from San Diego, CA and first cut my teeth with USCF rated chess at the San Diego Chess Club. Great organization and if any of you out there are in or around San Diego, you should certainly play there. It's a fantastic place to play and there are a LOT of good players there.
I moved to San Jose, CA and didn't have anywhere to play chess, so I kind of fell off the map. I met my wife in college and after we graduated we moved to her hometown in Iowa. From Iowa it was on to Minnesota where we now live. I re-kindled the chess fire while in Iowa and I currently play once a week in USCF rated games at the Chess Castle in Minneapolis. My first rated play in almost a decade - and it shows! I am rusty...
I found Chess.com a few weeks ago and I am totally hooked. My wife and I are moving back to San Jose, CA in September where I will take a job as the production manager for a film studio I used to work for. Things are going well for them and they want me back. I also have a friend out there who wants me to teach chess for his academy that travels to area schools, so I am looking forward to doing both.
And as far as latin women go... All I can say is, stay away from midwest farmers' daughters too! You never know where you'll end up living! lol
