How much does it though?

chess.com also works on the Nokia N95. I can access the site and make my moves in internet chess games. It's useful when you're travelling and have to make moves to avoid losing on time.

To OP csg, are you on Wi-Fi or 3G/EDGE? I should go back and try my turn based games now that I am on 2.0...

I know it works on wi-fi, I think I have done it over edge as well. But would have to run a test later to verify it.
I never said this was great. I had to leave it untouched until fully loaded or else it sometimes displayed a black box instead of the board etc. But - it can work. Definitely not a replacement, but if travelling with limited connection, might be handy to keep games going.
Shredder chess has a great iphone internet app and puzzles everyday, http://www.shredderchess.com/iphone/. I highly recommend it. I saw two iphone chess apps in the store, but don't feel compelled to pay money for them, so I can't make a recommendation beyond the shredder chess web app.
