Forums always descend into petty squabbling regardless of the theme. It's the combination of ego and the lack of discipline people have in non-face to face discussion. There's a group dynamic aspect also, with people not wanting to lose face (in their perception) in front of their faction. Interesting in its own way, but I'm loath to participate too frequently as a result.

Nerves of Butter isn't KindaSpongey. I know them both and both are my friends. Both are OK and Nerves can be a bit sensitive to perceived meaning in comments. So perhaps you mean nMs.

Spongey is into deep analysis, not only about chess but regarding people's ideas about it. He sometimes just sends a quotation from someone or other in a thread I've been commenting in, usually regarding chess analysis. There are quite a few over-sensitive people around. I could enlarge on that!

I realised belatedly and just kept what I'd already written.

nMsALpg challenged me in a thread, rather abruptly, maybe a week ago. I felt it was far too abrupt so I argued back, and then explained why I had reacted a bit quicker than I should. He accepted my explanation and I thought he's totally fine.

"kinda" did mention to me that he doesn't talk in forums because he had a problem in the past ... perhaps he was being aggressive. Not sure. People like Kowenerai I always had no problem with yet there was all that fuss around Christmas. Nice fellow, I thought. Some people just maybe over-react to stuff. I think maybe he was insulted and found it difficult to just take it and let it lie. It can happen to anyone if they're having a bad day and others take advantage of that and deliberately provoke them.
