You have played 0 games here in 5 1/2 years. How is anyone supposed to know, and or help you decide on what opening to play?
Is it time to give up the French defense

Then why are you asking here?
Just curious...people on icc could help you.

Because people on icc are too chess addicts.
Here in chess.com the foruns are better because people here does not waste too much time playing chess, chatting is funnier.
I agree with GodsPawn2016 as we know nothing of your capabilities.
however that said, one should always look to expand our knowledge of different positions in openings, middle and endgames. So if you are not feeling comfortable with French type positions, you have to experiment with Caro Kann, double K pawn openings, etc. If you lack motivation, then stop playing for awhile, until you feel hungry to play again.
It all depends if you want to improve. you should always try to broaden your opening reportoire. It will make you not only a more rounded player in the openings, but helps your thinking in the middle and endgames.

Exactly my point. Not picking on the guy. But with no games played, no games submitted for review, no idea of his ability, and nothing to go on. How is anyone supposed to suggest what he should play?
can anybody tell me why do i have so many games that disconnect and I can't do anything about , I live right next to a cellular tower any body have this problem?
I keep coming back to the French.Although I think it important to gain experience of other pawn structures that other openings provide.
I'm returning to 1e4 after a few years away. I find ...e6 the toughest to play against, because I never know what to play. the sidelines don't seem to give much but the mainlines can be better known by the French player who specialises:
1e4 e6
2d4 d5
if 3Nc3 - the most principled - white has to know several systems
3Nd2 is a little anaemic
3e5 black can choose several good lines.
3ed A weaker player as white will routinely get beat if they play for a draw with this
I have been playing the French defense for the past year or so. I like it. However, it does not like me. I seem to get passive positions and and
in the midst of a long losing streak. However, if I give it up and try to learn the Sicialian, I have to go through the pains of losing more to learn the opening.
My question is, does one hang in there or cut one's losses And switch.
What have others done.
