The only way to get a free membership is by having someone gift you. But you can get something like a chess mentor coach for free. Go to learn, then practice. While it doesn't tell you why your moves were good or bad or show brilliant moves, it still shows if your moves were good or bad, like, for example, "This move is a blunder" or " This move is an inaccuracy."

This is one way.
Chesscom staff and volunteers also receive free diamond membership for life.
Outstanding community members, in the forms mostly, can be nominated for 1 month of free diamond membership.
Winners of chesscom events or predictions can win, based on what I have seen, up to 6 months of diamond.
You can sign up for a free trial, and cancel before the renewal date. This is the only way that requires a valid credit or debit card. Do not send this to anyone through messages, even if they claim to be staff.
Another way is to join groups and clubs that do giveaways based on tournament preference or random drawings.
