Just got a Square Off Pro

I see that the software used to connect the board to my phone has various options. One is Face to Face. When I select it the popup says 5 Free attempts left to play Face to Face. Upgrade to get unlimited attempts.

Is this really telling me that I need to pay for a yearly subscription just to use the board to record my face to face games! This is unacceptable!

I found a solution! There is a free Windows driver that allows me to connect to a PC. I can access Fritz and Chessbase. It allows me to play an over the board game and have the game entered directly into chessbase.

You said "5 Free attempts", is it 5 free attempts per, month, year or day?

I have heard that it is 5 free attempts per month. This is not acceptable. If I play speed chess I could use the 5 free attempts is one or two hours.

What mode is this in?
Sorry i gave up on the square off pro 2 years ago happy.png when you say face to face are you talking about the video method where you see the other person as well as playing?
Cause the OTBs on Chess.com were unlimited. sorry if im completely misunderstanding

When I say face to face I mean with a person sitting across from me and we are playing on the same board. The Square off people give 5 times you can do this each month. I want to play speed chess with friends and have the board record the game for me.

I found a driver that allows me to connect the board Chessbase using bluetooth so as long as I never use their software (risking a software update that borks the driver) I can record the game directly into Chessbase.
