Oh, you think that a conversation about the meaning of words and languages is nonsense? How many foreign languages can you speak fluently? Zero? Less? How is it you learn anything if you don't ask when you don't know or don't understand?

The conversation was about Lent. You made it a nonsense spectacle of pointless contentions that quibble about the meanings of words no one cares about. Then you muster all of what little charm you have to toss insults at people who find you tedious.

I want to bring closure to what seems to me quite a misunderstanding.

First of all, there was no malice in my question about Lent. I was raised without religion, and turned Protestant later, which is no ground to learn Catholic stuff in English.

So, imagine you go to the forum, and see a thread where someone says they gave up Judo for Kabidang (invented word). Would you then understand:

A) They gave up a martial art for an other martial art (or activity) you never heard off?

B) They decided not to practice Judo during some religious lap of time of a kind?

So, I was genuine and asked what it was all about. But now I know what Lent means in English and understand why one would want not play chess during that time. (and thank you again to those who cared to enlighten me, peace to the others.)

Kaeldorn is not a troll. He's just an old dude with a nasty attitude and extremely thin skin. Not a good combination.

He likes to lecture others (famous for his long nonsense rants about how everyone should resign), but when someone talks back he immediately gets offended and starts getting personal.

I never said how nor when people should resign. I only pointed out what the custom is in real life. As a young chess player, I was myself a rather late resigner, thing I corrected because it was harming my reputation and esteem, just as I described. When I played during a month in a chess club in Sibiria, the resign habits were just the same, and when I played a tournament in the UK, it was again the same. The ranters is not me. I informed people of reality vs wishfull thinklng and magical Internet reality.

And you guys are widely abusing the word "nonsense". Just saying.

Side note: it makes me suddendly wonder how it feels to be enslaved to the habit of lying all the time like that... Must be... Not nice at all.
