This is a very sensitive thread.
Making the Chess.com Forums Better

Are politics and religion now allowed in off-topic?
Then they should erase this:
Forum Posting Rules - Be nice + No religious or political debate.by erik
Erik's directives are somewhat broad and open to interpretation. At this point were are all trying to work through them. If you read his original posting, it says:
Additionally, the following behaviors are not allowed in the main public forums and chat rooms:
- hijacking of threads with off-topic posts or images
- persistent stalking and harassing
- offensive or vulgar language
- religious or political debate
- spammy/pointless/distracting posts
- discussion of illegal activities (drugs, etc)
- advertising competitive sites
- cheating
The Off-Topic category and all Group forums are not moderated except for reports of hate speech, threatening personal attacks, or obscenity. If you are found unable to follow these rules, you may have your posting abilities restricted.
This seems to say that, other than for the stated reasons, the Off Topic category is open for almost any kind of discussions.

Socialista; They are not allowed at all in open public forums. They are allowed, but moderated in off-topic.
RJC:
The "Forum Posting Rules - Be nice + No religious or political debate" is pinned in the off-topic section.
So that would mean that Political and Religious debate is not allowed in off-topic (only groups).

I understood that, but then this thread is dated:

It looks like if it is still not allowed there (so it could be unpinned).

ZAPPED; Actually this thread is not sensitive. We are helping Erik make the forums a better place by directing people to the right place. Trolls--3 doors down; sockpuppets--across the hall; religous people--next building over; cry babys--in the basement; chess players--2nd floor.

Or perhaps that the programming hasn't yet caught up with the policy changes.

Yeah, antagonizing a moderator seems like a smart move.

I saw that, is just that this has been here for 4 days, so they could have changed it. Anyway, probably is not important.

Yes, but then he posted them seperately,(and dated) in a locked, unanswered post. It was the same as post #1 here. It was up for a day or two, now its not. Like when the mods introduced themselves. That page lasted for about 40 minutes, and it came down. If you didn't catch it, you wouldn't know.
