correct. we massively tightened up what it means to be an "active" player on the site :)
Massive Player Number Reduction
what does active now mean? And do you forsee a distinction in the future between paying and non-paying (more than it is today)?
This forum started out as educational since I am wondering what is going on...all of a sudden we are distracted from the forum topic and I have still not figured out what has happened here. 10,000+ members gone, I just want to know where they went, and if there are some new guidelines we are to follow. "SHE", has nothing to do with it. Thank you Glenn
You must have played at least 10 games and finished one game in the last 90 days to be considered active.
One thing that never ceases to amaze me is why people think anything along these lines is any of their business!
Why do you care, what difference to you does it make and how will it change how you interact to this site.
I suspect, no reason, none and none, but please enlighten me.
I know that as a paying subscriber, that Chess.Com provides more free content and functionality than any other chess website out there, that I do not feel in a position to complain ever.
Granted, things are not perfect, but by god, do we get value for money, especially those who have not contributed whatsoever!
Evil Homer, I suspect it has something to do with expectations - specifically the extremely high expectations erik and gang have set for themselves.
NO offense Erik and team, but i think ur definition of what qualifies as "active player" is not to good. I think "active" should be players who are actually playing (regardless of how many games they have played) or contributing to the web site. Those that dont come online for extended times say 30 days and its not vacation and have no games running would be more likely to be non active i would think. But thats my view anyway...
I'm looking at my rank and it's now out of about 15,000 players, rather than 21.000 players. I'm guessing that inactive accounts were either closed or not counted in the percentile ranks.
