Memorization of square colors?

In the Endless Quiz (great stuff, erik. Keep 'em coming) I've noticed that about 1/10 questions ask, What color is [insert square name here]?

I have been quite annoyed by these... but have developed a method for solving. I memorized which files have dark bottom squares (A,C,E,G), and assume that an odd number is the equivalent of the bottom, an even is the opposite.

Is there faster method than that? Or a method of memorization of square's colors? Thanks!

hmm, I gues ACEG and an odd number is dark, and BDFH and an even number is dark.

For those Q's, I have a CHESS BOARD in front of me, so it's EASY to name the color.

I easily remember ACE and then G just comes...
