I do think chess.com could better deal with stalling (against rules of site). I have seen other sites offer a "claim draw" or "claim win" option in such clear cases

Chess.com already does that for abandoned games, but automatically. "Other sides" don't give you a win if the player is still connected.

It would be an improvement if they found a way to grant the ability to claim a win even when an opponent is still connected in my opinion. Something like a "You still there?" popup after however many seconds without making a move when down however much material.

I'm sure there a better ways too. Maybe some sort of premove to victory, where after showing the premove all the way to mate, you don't have to wait for your opponents move to trigger the premove, and the game automatically ends.

But they already grant you a win.

Yes, but as mentioned it could take half an hour to do so.

The whole point is to avoid stalling, which goes against the rules of the site. Hence those suggestions, which would take aim at the rule breakers during the game, rather than afterwards

Yes, but after up to 30 min. The entire point of the suggestions is to stop stalling, which goes against the rules of the site. Hence the suggestions that might prevent the rule breaking during the game, rather than just punishing it afterwards

I'm pretty sure it's based on the game's length. So for example, wasting 2-3 minutes in a lost position in a 10-minute game. I'm not sure if they are using an algorithm for it, but it's probably adjusted from time to time anyway.

Maybe they all ran out of indignation.

So if you have to wait 9 minutes, what's the problem with that? You don't know any external factors that may have been participating. Your opponent has a life too.

It's not against the rules, and sure, it might be annoying but it isn't a problem. Do other things in the gap.

Solve some puzzles, read a book, grab something to eat or drink. It's not a big deal.

If you have an issue with it, contact support, don't make a forum complaining about it. The forum won't solve your problem, we can't solve your problem, only you can solve it.

Also, there is no need to report the player, because they didn't do anything wrong.

Not only can the forums not help you.  WE will point out how petty you are.

And others in the forums (such as me) will point out how petty your replies are. There was absolutely no need to treat one of the posters the way YOU did. You willingly chose to be a posterior to them because YOU thought they were being petty.
