Ok. That was my first guess, or that I had accidentally hit the laptop touchpad, but after experimenting a bit, I wanted to make sure it wasn't doing something on purpose before I tried more drastic measures, like replacing the mouse.
I play blitz, and I frequently pre-move. What I was finding was that I would hover over a square, andticipating one move and ready with a response. If it didn't happen, I would drag away from the square, and suddenly I would hear the click and my piece would be where I did not want it,. I lost a lot of queens that way. I'm sure my opponents did a double take sometimes. I'm a bad player, but not that bad.
I'm seeing something happen again and again. I'm playing a game in Live Chess. I think about moving a piece, so I click on it, drag it to a square, hover, and, moments later, I hear a click and the piece drops. My finger is still on the mouse button. I haven't released it.
Is this a bug or a feature? Is it the online equivalent of a "touch move rule", or is there some quirky behavior of my mouse and/or laptop?
